I am trying to enable spectators for a 6v6 map (with two computers on each team). I know that since there are 14 players (plus the additional neutral and hostile player) that there are no spots for spectators left over. What I am hoping to do is convert the map into a 5v5 map so two slots would be opened up spectators. However, I'm a little unsure of how to do this.
Things I've tried:
Map->Map Options->Made sure "Disable Spectators" is unchecked (indeed it was unchecked)
Map->Player properties->changed two players' control from "User" to "None"
Did this next one while the two players were still controlled by "User"
Map->Game Variants->Player Attributes->Player 13->Controller->Closed
Result: When I created the game privately, I added a few AI's and then right clicked my name to try and make myself a spectator, but it was greyed out.
In one scenario, it did show the correct number of players on each team, but i still couldn't make myself a spectator. In the other scenario, it just added the extra players to one team so there was no extra slots for spectators.
Any help would be appreciated :-/
This map has been up for a while so maybe it ran into issues during the update for spectators that happened a while back?
edit:
tried making the extra players into Neutral and "Defaiult Obs" to "Neutral"
Have you messed around with Game Variants at all? There has been a bug in the SC2 editor basically since beta where if you change anything in game variants while you have a computer player in the game it will break the spectator system so you can no longer assign them.
