In the launch attachment query i've tried lots of different values but nothing has changed. I tried the photon cannons method ="amfilterweapon00" and fallback = "center"
If all you want to do is raise the firing location, just do the following:
Open the Object Editor.
Go to your unit.
Select your weapon's primary actor (in your case, Stalker Attack).
Under the category Target - Launch Site Ops, add SOpHigherBy5 (or 3, if you want).
And you're done!

I attached the stalker weapon to the building "obelisk" However I can't seem to get the missile to fire from near the top of the model.

I've now copied the photon cannon and changed the main actor. Missiles come from the center. But i cant seem to move it to the top with this either?

ive been trying for like 5 hours straight to not let my missiles shoot from the bottom center of the unit
not even your launch site ops worked
i have everything linked together properly, i even built a new missile weapon from scratch following a tutorial (http://rileystarcraft.blogspot.com/2010/06/tutorial-create-missile-weapon.html)
but my missile is still starting from the bottom of the unit
what am i doing wrong :(
I've had the same problem and couldn't figure it out after changing all the options listed in this thread.
hrm actually it doesnt work any more for any unit, not even the units it used to work before
seems like i screwed something up majorly
thats what i get from no sleep and too much editing
even normal units that i never touched now shoot from the ground ARGH
