So I am using an attribute system based on items (modded version of the diablo one found on this site). When a hero dies it comes back to life with the items (using a trigger to replace the lost ones) but the attributes given to him are lost. Is there any way around this? Has the data editor revive had its item loss fixed yet? Am I screwed?
I use an ability to revive, and attributes stay on the unit. However, my Reaper hero's Reaper Jump got screwed up. So there's something dodgy about revive and Behaviors.
You might actually be better off not killing the unit, and simulate the death, making them dissapear. Take a look at the death prevention behaviours that are in the campaign, you can modify these to do that sort of thing.
I think I've read about some bugs with reviving units, not sure if this is part of it.
its the usual fail whale from blizzard, why you think storm of the imperial sanctum doesnt use any attributes? .. cause the only fix for dropping items is this, and this one screws up attributes..... So the only thing left to do, is wait for a patch if you want to use attributes and items at the same time.
Or you can use one of the work arounds instead of waiting.
Also have you tried removing all equipment and re-equiping it? Or catching the unit before death, removing equipment (store it in an array), then on revive adding it back?

Im going to try to find a work around using hero death prevention and moving the hero immediately to the revive point
so toon will die> hero death prevention kicks in> I hide the toon> move it instantly to the rez circle> after 8 seconds make the toon visiable.
Yeah that's what I was thinking, and it should definitely be possible. You should also be able to create a new model via the actor events and play it's death animation.
So it will actually just look like the unit is dying, even though the actual unit is being hidden and moved elsewhere.
Personally though, I would try remove and re-equip equipments via triggers first, as it is a lot less work.
