I've been trying to make a spell whose missile always travels the same distance from the caster (in the direction it was cast), no matter where it was targeted. I've been messing with the launch and impact site operations, and nothing seems to work.
The projectile will have some sort of Mover associated with it. Under Motion Phases+, there is a field at the end called Timeout; if the projectile fails to find a target it will be destroyed after these X seconds. From this you can derive a desired distance.
I don't think that works, because: For example, I'd like the projectile to travel 10 hectometers no matter what, even if the target is only 6 hectometers away.
Use a create persistent effect to set the target point for the launch effect. Set the Location to Source Unit, the Periodic Effect to your launch effect, and the Periodic Offset to (0, -y) where y is the distance you want the projectile to travel.
There are plenty of ways of doing this. I quess I would suggest using action definition. I just got to know action definitions and I made a nice spell with them.
Don't worry. I'm not interested in using your trigger (should you choose to build one). Or anyone's. I'm far too stubborn for that.
Riley, that's what I tried initially, but it did not work correctly. I assumed it wasn't the method. But if it is the method, I likely configured something incorrectly. Thanks.
You probably either didn't set the Location correctly or you used anything but periodic offset. Initial/expire offset don't work correctly, I think they don't take facing into account while periodic offset does.

Any ideas?
@Vexal:
bump.
@Vexal: Go

And Im not interested in building the trigger for you. Try to study them and post your results if you have problems.

@RileyStarcraft:
OH I know what I did. I set the offset in the Launch Missile effect. Thanks for the answer. I appreciate it.
