I'm trying to make a "revive hero" command/ability/button for my hero, so I can revive him if he dies. Right now, I want to place the command next to the Queen button on the command card for Hatcheries/Lairs/Hives. However, I don't know how to revive him, so I'm doing everything from scratch. It's basically like building a Queen from the Hatchery/Lair/Hive, except the button is grayed out when the Hero is alive. When he is dead, the button lights up, allowing me to revive him. It grays out when the Hero has been revived.
How do I make this happen? I've been trying to use various buttons, abilties, etc from scratch, but I don't know really what I'm doing.
Hero revive is bugged, any vitals like HP, Energy, shield is saved despite being temporary bonus from item is permanently saved upon death.
I find it interesting EXP is not saved while the vital "bonuses" are permanently saved. Really two bugs for revival? TWO?!?!
I wouldn't touch hero revive right now.
I can tell you how to do it though.
First UNIT: Hero Unit Death Duration -1.00000
Second ABILITY: Make an ability called Revive, already a revive function
Fourth UNIT: Link button with the ability revive
Fifth TEST MAP
Does not grey out but the button will appear automatically when the hero dies.
To make a button grey out, you can add a requirement and link it to a button but it's not that hard to do.
Okay... so, it's bugged. Does blizzard know about this?
Oh, and right now, my current hero is a 'classic' hero. No levels or Exp. Why? I don't know which Hero type they are going to use for SC2. :/ Does that affect anything?
So, it umm... it gives me "Revive Hydralisk (None)" I can't set the hotkey, and I cannot change the unit name. :/ Also, it doesn't have a revive time, it does it instantly, and as you can see from the screenshot, he NEVER appears! XD
Okay, I also tried using the Queen's birth as a base, and just not have it available when Kheldrun is alive. It works, except once Kheldrun is dead, you can repeatedly build Kheldruns from the Lair over and over and over and make an army of them. :P Not what I intended.
Um.... okay... I tried it, but Count Upgrade doesn't match the ability (Which is based off the Queen's birth ability). It seems to work, sorta. Again, he dies, the icon lights up and you can build as many as you want. What do I do?
I think I found a problem, whenever I go back to the "Count Ability" part, it blanks out the ability section, and I can't select any abilities until I select "Not equal to", or change the type. :/
Though, I changed the Constant 0 -> Count Unit (KheldrunBurrowed) is Queued or Better because when I burrowed Kheldrun, it would allow me to make a new one. :P
Don't worry, I tested it without the constant, and it seems to work fine.
So, can someone explain the steps to make a revive button using the Revive ability type? I'm not able to get it to work. I don't care if it saves the hero's state properly right now, I just want a working button.

Edit: That did not work very well. XD http://runestonelibrary.pbworks.com/f/48Revives.Jpg

To fix this you need to setup a "Use" requirement
This will grey it out. Put that in the "Show" folder to hide it all together.

Here's a screenie:
@AegisRunestone: Go
Well for starters you can make me not cry with that windows color scheme!!! lol
But seriously. When you setup your Command Card do you select that requirement for the revive ability?
No. Whoops!
And hey, I like my color scheme! :P
sigh, I tried that and it didn't work. :/ Still resing him like crazy.
If you PM me your map I will have a look at it
Done. :)
Anyone else with ideas can join in (the thread, I mean)!

I don't know if that's THE problem, though.
Ok I figured it out. Once I took a look at the mothership it was pretty easy :)
Use
So as long as the UNIT is queued, in progress or alive the button is greyed out
Oh! I should have thought of the Mothership! LoL!
It works! It works! Thank you!
