Has anyone figured out how to arbitrarily rotate units or models? I assumed this would be in the data editor or accessible with triggers, but I haven't found anything. All I can do is rotate about the z-axis by making a unit face a point.
Send 'actor message - rotate' seems to do something like this, but I've found it only works for extremes for some reason. I can make a vertically facing unit, a flat unit, but nothing in between...
I've been asking the exact same question for a little while now. I even started a thread up on Map Development over on Blizz's forum. Funny is that I found other threads here and there asking the identical question.
I have not yet seen an answer. I want to believe someone can figure this out, but so far every is just confusing rotating a unit along Z (easy) with rotating along X or Y.
Yeah, I played with the Up Vector and couldn't get anything to happen. And like the other guy said, unfortunately, moving completely resets the rotation of the unit.

Can you share what parameters you used? The message appears to take two vectors, but I don't understand how it parses them into a rotation.
Annnnnd I'm off to work.
Your sample rotates about the Z axis, not the X or the Y axis.
@Strigiformes: Go Hmm, I got it to go about it's relative X axis:
See attached screenshot.
this is easy. all you do is go into select mode and double click the unit. make sure your in the unit layer
That's exactly what I want, but strangely it doesn't work for me. For me, your demo only changes the way the unit faces.

Just what I've been looking for! Thanks a tonne for this!
I'd played about with the rotate actor message before, but I didn't know it was after sin/cos values ^^
Edit: it's also worth noting that moving resets the rotation. Perhaps having the actor as an attachment could fix this?

This is cool that you get the Carrier to pitch upwards, but could you write something for rolling? I've noticed there is no Right Vector either.
I'm at work right now, so I can't try anything. I'll see if I can figure anything out when I get back to my dorm.

Alright cool. I'm currently trying to look into a way to use a 3rd party editor to rotate the model itself.
Apparently... The "Up Vector" doesn't do anything?
I tried changing it's values (for naught), quite literally NOTHING happened.
(Test Map, W+S change Pitch, A+D change Roll (Doesn't work), Q + E Change Yaw

Is it possible for the carrier to point at 90 and 270 degrees at the camera's view?
