Currently in my game, I have imported a couple of announcer sounds for certain events, however these sounds play too low, even though I have set their volumes to 100%. I tried triggering the volumes to play at a higher percentage, like 200%, but to no avail. Does anybody else happen to know a different way to amplify these sounds?
If it is happening because your camera is zoomed out far, here's a fix (i posted this on the sc2 forums a while ago):
I've found a way to fix this problem! I was having the same issue that you guys were talking about. In my map, I have the camera zoom out to a distance of 50, the default I think is around 35.
Here's the fix:
1. In the data editor, go to Data Type: Game UI Data.
2. Go to Default SC2 UI Settings.
3. Scroll down to Sound Data +, double click.
4. There is a list of about 20 different sound types. Scroll to somewhere in the middle and find Combat.
5. Once Combat is selected, scroll down to the very bottom, to the section Volume Rolloff Points.
6. For Index 1, change the Distance from 30 to some higher value. This value depends on how far out your camera is. Since I zoomed my camera out to 50, I figured that doubling this number from 30 to 60 would be enough. You may have to make yours higher than 60 depending on how zoomed out you are.
7. Repeat step #6 for other Sound types as needed. I changed types Death, Spell, UI, Build, Movement, and Other so far.
I haven't tested this out completely, but it seems to do the trick for now. Changing the volume instead of the distance may be a better way to fix it, or possibly adding another index, but I haven't tried that. I'm worried that I might pick up sounds far away in other areas of the map that I don't want, but so far it is working well.
Hm, I tried this and it didn't work for me. My camera is at a height of 45, so I tried putting the sound rolloff point at 50. It did not work :(. I did some more rolloff points which were 40, 46, and 200. None seemed to work. If you have a solution or suggestion please let me know :).
I had the same problem. I downloaded Goldwave, loaded up my sounds and adjusted the volume in the actual sound file. The program can also convert audio file types to .ogg or whatever you need.
For me it seems to work, except the last zoom level being extremely quiet. Does anybody know what "ME" stands for? It has the same default distance of 30, so I think that should be changed, too?
What I did was reduced the volume rolloff points volume integer for index 1 as well as the distance. This seems to adjust the maximum amount sound will fade over the set distance. You raise it to like -20 to reduce the fade out, or raise it all the way to 0 and have the sound cut out a lot more sharply when it hits the max distance.
I wanted to bump this thread because this method hasn't worked for me.
My imported sounds play in Transmissions, and nothing I do in the Data Editor seems to be working, is there a way to amplify the sound WITHOUT editing the sound file itself? (Which is possible, but would be infinitely more time consuming than, say, just increasing the volume in game)

Have you tried changing the sounds' volume in the data editor?
If I remember correctly the Data Editor doesn#t allow volumes above 100% too.
The only way I know of it to edit the sound file itself in a program like audacity and make it louder, then import it again.

@RainGame: Go
great post - helped me out a lot thanks.

I hate to gloat, but it works very nicely for me, thanks to RainGame, that was very helpful!
