So i think i might want to make a MOBA (not yet, soon maybe), and I think i came up with an idea. I wanted to get some feedback on it overall before actually working on it though.
Story:
The year is 2600. Shortly after the fall of the last Zerg, a cataclysmic war between High and Dark templar broke out. Spread across a majority of the galaxy, the Protoss fleet was picked off by covert groups of Dark Templar as they came back to help the few remaining forces in the Koprulu sector. While the Dark Templar had the advantage, the Conclave fought back hard and managed to heavily wound their opponent's raiding forces before they were destroyed. Eventually, the remaining "normal" Protoss were reduced to a single entrenched outpost, and the Dark Templar to just 3 covert deployments. As usual, the more nefarious elements of Terran origin are moving in to exploit the situation for their benefit, and there are rumors that the Zerg might not be as dead as was suspected...
Primary features:
Short form and fast paced, normal games are about 20 mins long and long ones are about 40
2 factions: High Templar and Dark Templar
High templar start out in the center and have 3 heroes on a single team, and Dark Templar are 3 separate small camps on the border of the map that are fighting with the High Templar and each other.
Multiple layers of objectives to victory, not just straight "siege the base" goals
Economy of items, inventory is small but item effects are powerful
Innovative mechanics such as Grafting, whereby you can obtain effects from an item without having it equipped (though the item benefits are lost on death).
Systems that ensure a competitive game against players with differing skill levels
Mechanics to discourage stat pumping by incurring severe penalties
I like the idea of asymmetrical maps; the idea that one side starts in a big base, whilst the other team is divided amongst smaller other bases, especially the idea of them fighting with each other. I say go for it mate, it's unique.
