hi everyone, lastly i found the *scm file of the Starcraft and Starcraft Brood War map on megaupload, and i got the ideas to remake those map, but i know nothing about the galaxy editor in term of trigger texture and things like that. the only thing i know to do is to change the dependancies of a map and that's all i know about the editor. all the others thing i have do with it are never working. so, i post them to open pubic so the SC2mapster communauty can do something with them. these are the original files. i do not have edit or touch anything.
for open theses files, you have to use the legacy map converter of the starcraft 2 galaxy editor. after that, you have to re-work the terrain (cliffs and stuff like that) and re-placed the units and the building. i do not know if you have to re-make the trigger. but i guess you guy know about it.
NOTE : YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE TEXTURE OF THE MAP IN THE MAP MENU OF THE GALAXY EDITOR TO ACTUALLY SEE THE MAP. IF YOU DON'T DO THAT, YOU WILL ONLY SEE A BLACK-BLANKED MAP. ONLY AFTER THEN, YOU CAN SEE THE MAPS.
I can do some mission remake if I find time for that.

I know here in sc2mapster are many mission remakes but some of those are very low quality.
Personally I don't like SC1mod so I will propably make my remake mission using SC2 mechanics without mod. I allow people use my map when I get it done if you want to make it SC1 style with mod.
I propably want to do some mission from Brood War campaign.
I will post again when I have decided what mission I will remake.

When I opened 4th map of Protoss Brood War campaign there are some preplaced units. For example I select some unit without model its name is "Mari" so that is Marine, right? Wondering can I replace these someway? I tried Find / Replace... command from edit menu but it doesn't find "Mari" for example.

Hi, just that you know, sc/bw maps can be easily extracted from game data, there are plenty of tutorials on how to do it (at least I didn't have any troubles finding how to do it).
From what' I've seen legacy converter do to maps, it's better to recreate map from scratch, because the only thing similar between old and converted maps are minimap images. Also, you should check already remade Ep1, Ep2 and half of Ep3 of SC1 (search for them in Mapsters database).

You pretty much can't export any useful data from SC1 except for sounds. If you use converter you'll get similiar minimap and unit positions but that doesn't matter because of horrible terrain and map size.
I wouldn't call existing remakes "very low quality" because.. I know it's hard to do it right. You'd have to reimagine terrain and masterfully transfer feeling and pace of original map into remake. And It's hard to do, you'd have to replay original map a dozen of times, and then adjust that experience to sc2 mechanics. Good luck to you if you want to try it :D
DuckyTheDuck, by "low quality" I mean some maps here in sc2mapster. In project description reads something like "remake of brood war mission X" and when you start that map it has nothing do with original map, no working mission objectives, no AI, terrain is different, etc...
At the moment we have 2 "good quality" campaign remakes (done by Jones, Ultraling) and Protoss campaign has 4 or 5 missions. (these were done by someone other than Jones or Ultraling)
I have and idea to remake some Brood War mission with just similiar mission objectives and same kind of terrain. I'm not going to import sounds or things like that but I hope that I can help some to remake it even better.

By the way... I just installed Starcraft1 + Broodwar and I didn't find those single player maps from game folder. (Only multiplayer maps + Enslavers campaign) So what you did to find them?
I used MPQ extractor to get game data from "Starcraft.mpq" and "Broodwar.mpq". There is a "Campaign" folder which contains all sounds and maps in .chk format (rename .chk to .scm and .scx(for expansion)).
OK. I browsed Brood War maps and I decided that I want to do a remake 8th mission of Zerg campaign. In that mission you have to use Dark Templars to destroy the Overmind. That was one of my favourite maps.
So, if someone else got inspiration do a remake of some mission choose some other map, please :)
you can also use this mod to re-create the "perfect" Starcraft 1 Campaign experience by follow my instruction in the comments. just read the comments untils you see my name.
Note : the Starcraft 2 Brood War mod of the "Starcraft 1-already-done" campaign are outdated, they do not have the latest version of the mod. so, if someone can contact the authors of these Starcraft 1 Campaign map and tell them they can use a newer version of the mod, more faithful to brood war.

We are already working on making the brood war game
For I have seen maps on b.net that have 10-15 maps from brood war in them, and they use briefings, and the moon view selection, where you can mess around, pretty neat, but if we get enough support, we can get blizzard to install the sc2 engine into sc1, and still have new models, best stuff etc, and have the sounds, and everything the same... But, to my beliefs, after SC2 LOTV, what is blizzard gonna do? I think they are gonna create a SC2 Expansio, which has all the expansions in them, and you can decide which on you want to play, (like the sc1-scbw) and have the selection screen for which campaign...
Or maybe they will remake brood war itself, not the way we will want it, sadly... And what about one of us doing all this? If sc2maptser can get the best editor gaming people, and we can do this and make it perfect, we will most not be allowed to sell it, but maybe we can make a CD with it on it, and give it to blizzard for them to sell...

beside that, i have the same opinion as you, except for that i want the resulting "final product" to be totally free. this way, the mod + campaign will not create a competitor for Blizzard.

Until you learn map editor and actually make a map you probably wouldn't understand what it takes to make quality content. Of course, if best and brightest of community would band together and make this come true it would be cool, but it probably won't happen. Most likely they're simply not interested in creating this sort of stuff. As I said, it's not just recreating terrain and triggers, it's recreating experience, and since sc1 and sc2 really are different strategy games, it's not as easy as you might imagine.
This said, wouldn't it be awesome to have a tribute contest based on SC/BW missions? Instead of making something cool but nonfunctional (how many of assets created in previous mapster contests were beneficial to players? Spells, cutscenes, interfaces, creature, while they demonstrated ability to work with editor, there wasn't a single contest to develop and produce something playable (as in a map with objective)).
All that participants would have to do is to pick a mission(theme) and work with it. It could be a simple mission port to SC2, a reimagined version (If somebody finds making "build 12 battlecruisers then kill everything" scenarios underwhelming to work with) or something different, as long as it's a playable map (got objective to complete) with missions theme. Would be fun to see the different takes on same scenarios by different people. The only drawback is that participants would need to know sc/bw missions and some people here have never played (and probably don't intend to play) SC1. But same issue didn't stop mapster from hosting wow arena boss contest :D
This is probably closest we can get to collaborative SC1 project which would involve biggest amount of participants. Also, single players scenarios are fun, people should make more of them.
PS. When I searched for "contests" some backstage topics showed up (couldn't access them). Does it mean that I can stalk mod forum activity with right keywords? >:]
just for made it clear : i am not asking for any of you to make a map for me. i give you those map so you can do whatever you want with them. that's all !
