Aside from being a fantastic show, the reboot of Battlestar Galactica spawned what is, to this day, my favorite board game. Given the complexity of the SC2 Map editor, the Battlestar Galactica board game could very realistically (and accurately) be converted into a Starcraft 2 Map (and might benefit from creative liberties in the adaptation of elements like space combat and moving about the ship). The automation of certain events (like shuffling decks and resolving ship placement from crises) would shorten the game length and make it much more playable in a single sitting (and thereby lessen the impact and likelihood of players leaving).
In the board game, you take on the role of one of the crew of Galactica, as the ship and the colonial fleet it protects seek refuge from the Cylons. Some of your crew members will be Cylon agents (in fact, you may be one without realizing it). It is up to the humans to protect the ship until it reaches its destination, and the Cylons to prevent that from happening.
The game involves secrecy and bluffing, deduction, strategy, politics and persuasion. The map would play like a much more complex and interactive (and much more fun) version of Mafia—not to mention it would not kill off or exclude any players (although their characters may not be so lucky) from gameplay.
I have no experience in mapmaking, but I would be happy to provide assistance in the translation and implementation of the game rules, making rulings about the grey areas, providing scans and text of all cards, characters sheets and materials, providing creative direction (with regards to game design, textual content, unit choices, map aesthetics, ideas for changes and enhancements), assisting in map testing, and contributing to any other aspects of the adaptation process.
