If you have any ideas for a map to review, either your own or a suggestion, I'd appreciate it. I'll post any reviews I do in this thread, and criticism is appreciated.
Will you be doing it with other people (perhaps the author of the map in question) if the map is multiplayer?
I'm okay with anything. I just finished my first ever review~ on Desert Strike, just as a sample and to practice. I'll upload it tonight given my sucky connection takes hours to upload to youtube.
That would be my lovely partner in crime for the Blizzcon map contest.
Well there you go. Anyways, i think you should be more... "reviewish" during your reviews. You're a funny character on Mapcraft and quite honestly the only reason i watch it lol. With that said, what i meant when i said reviewish is talk more about your opinions of the map itself and less about what you're during while playing it.
Hi Eiviyn, cool that you want to put some effort in this.
My suggestion would be: Make it shorter. 5 minutes, perhaps less. If I would look for a review I'd just like to know quickly if I want to play the map or not, and not really see a whole match of it.
I would suggest doing 2 reviews. a quick and extended... if someone likes the look of the quick one they can watch the extended. Would be how I would do it
I did have a look at it, but well, I don't like video reviews that much. I prefer a detailed, written review, maybe a short video for gameplay demonstration.
But thats probably just me (I dislike video tutorials as well); I still think you are doing a good job in reviewing some maps.
I would recommend to review some unknown/less popular maps in-between as well. With Desert Strike and Element TD the feeling arises you take on the popularity list from top to bottom.
Also, I have to agree with Bounty, a little more review in the review couldn't hurt ;)
Uploading the Element TD review now. I tried to include a few more review elements.
Tomorrow is map night. I'm hoping to be able to review some of the less popular maps like Core Fight. Suggestions are welcome, though make sure the map is finished enough to warrant reviewing please!
I recommend my map, Malum Ruina, for review. It's a deception/survival map set in a mining colony. It's just recently been published to Europe under the title "Malum Ruina EU." Recommended players are 7 or more.
The gist of the map is that one person is randomly chosen to be the Alien, a malicious creature bent on consuming all of humanity. The Alien looks in every way like a human until it mutates into its true form. The Alien can turn humans into spawns which can also switch between human and alien form, with the goal being to kill or spawn every other human. Each human has his own role, such as Commander, Guard, or Medic, each with its own unique traits and abilities. There is also a Psion role, which is sort of an independent faction in itself that can choose whether to help the alien, the humans, or go solo. The Psion has its own ability tree and becomes stronger in time.
The Psion and the Alien both gain Evo gradually over time. This can be enhanced by performing certain tasks, such as using abilities as the Psion (which can reveal the Psion's identity if not used carefully) or by laying eggs as the Alien, which generate Evo but leave the Alien vulnerable if they are killed.
Malum Ruina has a lot of neat little features that I haven't seen a whole lot in the custom map community, such as vehicles that can be boarded and driven around and a dynamic navigation system to help players find their way around the map. The minimap also homes in on the player's unit for finding your way around Malum Ruina's plethora of building interiors and underground tunnels. There's even a command to vote on a new lighting scheme if you feel so inclined.
I hope you consider this map for review. I've certainly put a lot of time into it, and I would love for it to become noticed in the EU realm (and US for that matter!)

Your first review should be SotIS :D

Oh gosh! We’ve heard Eiviyn’s opinion about maps on mapcraft O.o
Let’s hear a sotis review. lol
I thought you're a girl Eiviyn?
Whatever you do, wholeheartedly, moment by heartfelt moment, becomes a tool for the expression of your very soul.
He is. . . can't you tell?
@GnaReffotsirk: Go
This is awkward...
I've seen him referred to as "she" on multiple occasions.
I concur, what the FUCK is going on here...
If Eiviyn is a man, then who the hell is this beetch.
That would be my lovely partner in crime for the Blizzcon map contest.

I kind of agree with Bounty. Watching you play the game is fun and all, but more evaluation and explanation would be great.
Also, be MOAR critical,
Thanks for the feedback! The harsh kind is always the most useful.
I'm putting together a review of Ele TD which I'll upload tonight. Ideally I want to make 1 per day.

Again, criticism is very much appreciated.

Review was alright, although as said already you could have gave alot more info on what the map was all about.
Secondly thou, it would always be interesting to hear you're perspective as a map maker. Not just a casual gamer.
Added Element TD review. Not overly happy with this. Might redo it.
