Hello Sc2Mapster, about a week and a half ago I was playing Diablo 3 and like most people who play that game, wish it was a little more like D2. I felt inspired to try to recreate the experience in SC2, mainly the broken RNG system that comes with D3. I originally just wanted to see if I could create the random item system at all, but in the end run the result is better than I could have imagined, and already running smoothly. So far its been fun testing it out because (to me, atleast) it recreates the fun of finding that special item and it actually being special.
So far what I have is a mix of WoW and Diablo style items with some flare of my own. At any given time using my system you can find a Damaged/Common/Uncommon/Rare/Unique/Legendary item of any type: Plate Helm, 2 Handed Axe, Cloth Bracers... ect. Seeing the results of how well the system worked I started expanding on the concept, obviously into a RPG syle map and what I have so far is a randomly generated, savable, highly replayable RPG. What really makes it replayable in my book is that even though there is a town with quest givers, the people in the town, the people they tell you to kill, talk to or places to go will never be the same, and neither will the items or the rewards. As I continue to build upon the item system and make inprovements as I work on other parts of the map my number one goal is to make it so you should almost never see the same item drop (unless we're talking about common or damaged items, which is designed to be starter gear or a good source of gold at a vendor).
So far all my work has been done in the trigger editor, because thats what ive been good at since the early days of blizzard games, and as I venture into other areas of the game ive been pushing off like importing a WoW model for my character and figuring out how to attach the gear that you find. This has specifically been pushed off due to the fact that I got rid of WoW a while ago, and even with the tutorials I cant access the MPQ's to even try. If anyone could give me a hand doing this i'd be very appreciative.
In conclusion, if anyone would like to be a part of helping me in the development of this map, feel free to comment or PM me.
