Somehow, one of my side projects (which I had no intention to put this far into development at first) is starting to look good enough to be played. I'd like people from EU to search for the map called "The Last Hour" on BNet (Tower Defense category, even though it's much closer to Left 2 Die than TD), and come back here to give some feedback.
The map is still in alpha stage (terrain is far from being done, icons and descriptions might be messy, not every units/abilities are included, etc.) but most of the objectives are working fine, and you should be able to have fun with or without friends... I have already played with some friends of mine, but I'd like to gather more feedback and see what's fun and what's not, what needs to be clarified and what's good as it is. I'm also looking for ideas of buildings/locations/landmarks to add in this environment, even though I already have a list I might have missed a few things.
The average length of a game is about an hour when playing alone (hence the name), you have 5 objectives to complete to win the game and you mustn't let important buildings/units/heroes die on the battlefield. These objectives are chosen randomly, the more you play the better! I'm also looking for more ideas of objectives (3 or 4 should be enough), so if you ever think of something just let me know...
Have fun! :)
EDIT: The map is now on page 2, in both the Most Popular and Tower Defense categories... Thanks to anyone who bookmarked it even though it's just an alpha test, and please keep spreading the word! ;)
Bumping the thread to upload some screenshots... It's not much but I'll also try to upload a video next, to show actual gameplay (I'll try to record between 5-10 minutes at random). Current version available on BNet has been updated in the last few days to include a basic AI for computer players (train units, send waves, protect allies) and a possible fix for the Megastructure objective.
It's probably not showing the best part of the game (the first 10 minutes are not the most intense), but I wanted to show the concept instead of going into details. The best way to make up your mind is still to search for the map on BNet and play, expect something similar to Left 2 Die in terms of gameplay.
Oh and by the way, thanks to the first players who added this map in their bookmarks, and anyone who helped it raise from the bottom of the BNet pit straight to page 2 in just a few days (*COUGH* while I was playing Diablo 3 *COUGH*)! That's really unexpected for an alpha version, I appreciate it! :)
Since this map made it to the front page of SC2Mapster (thanks Zeldarules, for being the curious type), I'm keeping a trace here of the feedback I've received so far, from reviews on the Arcade beta:
The beginning of the game is kind of slow and boring (I agree on that one and I really need to fix it ASAP)
"Balancing issues" (whatever that means, anyway I guess it's either too easy or too hard for the guy)
¿Qué tengo que hacer, senior? (literally, "what do I have to do?!?!"... sigh, kids these days...)

I'm still planning to go to Canada for a year, so yes. It was delayed for health reasons, but at some point this year (hopefully before September) I should be able to upload all my maps on the NA servers. If the Arcade allows cross-region, it should happen even sooner.
After reading reviews on the Arcade it looks like my maps are bugged. Localization doesn't work well and I don't know how to fix it. I heard editing the MPQ is not safe, so I'm looking for a better way to do this... Any clue?
EDIT: Because of the absurdity of the situation, I've decided to remove both The Last Hour and Ikari Warriors from the Arcade beta (temporarily, until I find a work around). I'd rather not publish them instead of having my maps flamed because localization is not done properly, thus making the maps completely unplayable... I tried SC2Localizer, but then publishing was forbidden for the following reasons:
The term "Slave" is prohibited in Spanish (esMX)... OK, fair enough.
The term "own " is prohibited in Spanish (esMX)... You've got to be kidding me...
The term "trans" is prohibited in Italian (itIT)... So basically "transport" is prohibited? Way to go, censorship!
I'll probably have to make proper translations but I obviously do not speak italian or spanish well enough to do this, so... I'll find another way. Until then, sorry but you'll have to stick to the versions published on the "official" servers, not the 1.5 beta...

Omfg.
Blizzard's excessive censorship is just an embarrassment. Their "marketplace" is never going to be considered as a legit platform with so much control over the content.
I own disbelief. (Nobody can read that in Spanish. =D)
Yeah, that's pretty absurd censorship. The only one I can think of justification for is slave, but even still that depends on the context. If you're making about about enslaving the world in this day and age, okay, maybe that shouldn't go out there. A type of documentary-like thing about slavery? Touchy subject perhaps, but that's just stupid.
Car in Albanian makes more sense. (Hehe =D Technically "kar"... :) Who says you can't learn anything from a British car show in the US...Top gear is hilarious even though I know about as much about cars as I do SC2 mapmaking.)

Any hope of it hitting NA? :(
