Examiner: National Online Games 4/5 - "Mafia has all the allure of those party-night murder-mystery game boxes, and you can play through one in significantly less time. Grab your friends, serve some popcorn, and hide your identity – Mafia is a StarCraft II custom map worth playing." - Daniel Tack (Mafia Review)
Now available is Rp's Lie Detector, an useful tool designed to assist you in figuring out which roles the remaining random slots could be. By extension, it can be used to prove that someone is lying about the role they claim to be! Thanks, Logante.
Available in North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia!
At a basic level, Mafia is like Survivor With Guns. At night, the mafia elect to kill someone. At day, the town votes to lynch somebody. The mafia win when the town is dead and the town wins when the mafia are gone.
Of course, that's the simplest possible setup. There are in reality many roles and variations that can be used; my rendition of Mafia tries to include lots of options, but it is impossible to include all of the possible house rules that people might want (I'd be working until the day I die and not make even half of them).
For this reason, my Mafia will include roughly three dozen roles, many of which are familiar to veteran players, but some of which will be fairly unique. There are many options, but this is still my interpretation of the game; I have optimized the experience and game mechanics to work best with the battle.net service and playerbase.
What are the features?
Many combinations of options and role setups
Lots of custom UI, including a full-feature setup screen
Customized chat and log system
Dynamic tutorial system (optional)
Carefully-made game mechanics that flow smoothly and react dynamically
Lots of polish, including a natural day-night lighting scheme, weather, and several execution methods
Variant save slot
Stats tracking, points leaderboard, and points rewards
Custom-made UI art by Irrational and Dgrayed
Custom-composed music by KingAdamXVII
What is done so far?
There are currently 28 roles (with about three dozen in total planned) and countless combinations of game options and role setups with more to come in the future. Beyond that, all of the game mechanics are finished. I will also add more execution types later on when I get bored.
Where can I play Mafia?
Play it on North American, European, or Southeast Asian battle net, under the name -Mafia-. You can organize matches in the Mafia channel; this is the preferred method because the players are much less likely to leave mid-game and will be more knowledgeable about Mafia.
I probably will, since I'm in regular correspondence with someone in the EU region.
Also, I've made more progress, though not much I can give screenshots for until I'm back on my good computer and had a chance to do some more multiplayer tests. The problem with Mafia is that the game has to be nearly completely DONE before you can even make a full test of it.
Without even having played the map, I recommend you input some kind of 'simple game mode'. Too much choice is a bad thing and people will go haywire if the first thing they see after entering your map is a humongous screen full of options and different rules. KISS would apply here. Being able to deepen it out is great, but you might want to make a little simple list of tips for newbies so they get the easier characters and all.
I've played this game a few times and always seemed to end up being a citizen. This is my first mafia game and I cant comment on the other roles. But honestly, playing a citizen is either extremely boring or I just don't know whats going on. There is a lot of production value in this map and I really didn't get to experience it as a citizen. It feels more like a stale role play map. Like I said, great production but its just not my type of game. I am sure others will love it. Good job!

Bugs:
First time playing this, names in the interact dialog (Be it lynch, kill, or whatever) was invisible. For some reason, after that game, it appears.
Also, the next day scene doesn't show dead bodies. Just an empty space.
When you assign positions in the circle, some positions are occupied by two players.
Advice:
The next day scene (Where deaths are announced), it is too dark. Put some light in it.
In the part where they input their names, you should make it so clear on what they have to do. There are too many people who don't get it and end up with default names. If they do result to default names, can you at least put "Player 3 moved in to town."?
The part where the actions are executed is too long. This will confuse too many players. Make it shorter for the sake of everyone.
A lot of the user interface was well-made. But without any pointers on what some of them mean, it can confuse the newbies. (Like the white box surrounding the chatbox)
Will add when I notice more shits.
Naming yourself Rebecca Black means you want to get killed on the first night.
Get the mafia mode set up please. When you get a host that hasn't played before he makes it uneven or just doesn't know what to pick. Also add some cutscenes for the players during night time. Like have civilians walking around the town. Have the mafioso killing people. Have a hooker role blocking a guy like Justin Beiber. Also add in genders. I don't care if they're randomized but seeing all guys is kind of boring after a while.
I really love the music and the feel of the game. If played right you'll never know who it is. I'm amazed your map has risen so fast up through the pages. At first it was below smashcraft and then I saw it rose above it in a hour's time or something like that. Then the next day it was on the top of that page. I think that map is going to make it to number 1.
Searching for it right now.... I'll let you know what I think.
edit- It was fun, for the most part. A little slow at parts but well polished. I don't see how your supposed to prove yourself or others innocent. I was sheriff and got killed lol. What ev, nice job. And creative deaths, too. But again, watch out because 'hooker' might get your map banned. How did you do that chat system? Its very nice :D The UI is well polished, it reminds me of debates.
The female civilian does not have as many animations as the male one, so I couldn't use her.
Also, in the next update I'm hiding the Mafia variant, which means that DR's Choice is the first/default option. Just clicking that and using Start will result in a balanced, varied game to be played.
A while ago I added the one-time-use Bulletproof Vest option to the Citizen, so they have something to do. I'll make it on by default so more people use it.
Those bugs are being fixed in the next version as well, Vicboy.

What is Mafia?
Mafia is basically a faithful rendition of the party game of the same name, which you can learn about at http://wiki.epicmafia.com and http://mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page.

Are you going to upload this to EU too, Revenant? It seems like something I'd ocassionaly play.

Well, Mafia is now actually done and I have made over a dozen successful games. It's now available publicly as -Mafia- ... Play it!

Watch out death, "Whore" can get your account banned in SC2. Nice UI.
