Honestly, most of these changes sound very nice on paper. Blizzard surprised me with this one, did not expect a serious improvement anytime soon.
Hopefully it will work out as nice as it sounds.
i just seriously wish there was a list i could view
that listed every hosted public game that had player slots available
so if i host a game on my map and sit there waiting for people to join. it'll be there and people will fucking see it AND THEY CAN FUCKING JOIN IT.
it doesn't have to give custom game names that people will abuse. just map name. slots available. big list i can scroll through without having to press some retarded show more button. god.
It would be okay if they only showed one instance of the map no matter how many times it's hosted. So if a certain map has any lobbies currently open, it'll be listed in the "maps with currently occupied lobbies". When they all start the game or become vacant, it's removed from the list.
ofcourse. it would be like the subcategories they showed in the blizzcon concepts
you'd click "SotiS" for example. and it would open a sub-list with all the currently hosted sotis games
clicking it again would hide the sublist
I don't think it should be like that. There's really no reason to show the individual lobbies, or even how many currently exist. As long as it shows that there is at least one.

Leaning toward this too because there is no way to join an individual lobby. It just randomly places you.
Make it the default tab and you've suddenly reacquired the ability to publish, host, and find willing participants in a matter of minutes.
Up the ante and allow sorting by unpopularity. Then you have a perpetually changing list of maps that unequivocally guarantee a person on the other side (except if the list is old).

And what if people want to host the game for a specific level of skill? (like pro/noob) This way people with all skill levels join the same game, so its rarely balanced.
That is a problem. I don't have an answer to that which could fit in the current system. But I also highly doubt they'd overhaul the entirety of Battle.net 2.0.
So I'm at a loss for words.
I myself have experienced that problem with my map. There are different modes and difficulties and players join with specific intentions. They leave at the start if they don't get their way.
Still once again. They could have just reversed Join Game list in first place to show less popular in first page and more popular would be further ahead towards bottom of the list.
I always thought a simple quick-fix could be a check-box that reads "Show only Maps with Active player in Lobby"
"Show only active games" is even more succinct. Such a checkbox is the minimal implementation of the aforementioned functionality. However, it is also the most practical. You see, it allows it to be on all tabs instead of a single tab. I'm sure the value of this is self evident.

@post underneath from Karawasa: don't worry wont last
Taken quite well. But in all honesty, your recent string of posts have been nearly undecipherable.

I second this.

This could solve the spam from popular maps.
Agreed, that would be a mandatory way of doing it.

well either way is fine really
Yes, a "What's Playing?" tab would be choice.

Most sortable lists anywhere sorted lists are used have the option of sorting in ascending order or descending. Not sure why that's not the case here.
its synched and refreshes too quickly / too often for it...

Where would they fit such a checkbox.
