how do you tell what region because i dont think im Na or Eu
Where do you live? What continent does it belong to? (Europe, North America, South America, South East Asia, I think Russia got its own server as well... There might be more servers)
I think recording this would be a great advertisement for map night. I think some people are apprehensive or unsure about what map night is. I think video might help. Either a stream or VOD broken down by map session.
I'm capable of recording but not streaming. I'd be happy to record if people think that would be of value.
Also, does anyone else have microphones? I can voice over the session, but it's better if there's more interaction. If anyone else has a microphone and would like to hop on map night tonight, please let me know. I think this could be fun.

Pocket Warriors - A pokemon-style game with SC2 units and full banking. New demo coming soon!
Map night was a success! Many games were played, and we had a lot of fun.
I decided to do a live stream (having never done one before) a meer few hours before map night started. I suffered from a few technical difficulties, unfortunately, but we were able to stream live as well as record. However, I couldn't get the SC2 sound to capture, so the only sound is from my microphone. Also, I neglected to record until 3 games in, and the recording stopped after 3 hours. So the recording is a somewhat truncated version of what really occurred.
Still, I'll work to resolve these issues by next week so that we can have an even better event then! I'm gonna set up Ventrillo so people with a mic can join into the discussion.
As far as the turnout, it was a complete success! We actually had too many people show up, and some couldn't play for some games. We were still able to find a decent number of people to join the larger games, and as people left we were able to find others to join in. There was no shortage of people interested in playing. If this keeps up, we may need a secondary organizer to handle overflow games. If that person is willing to stream as well, even better!
Please move the following games to the bottom the list (I'd like to replay them):
Rooftop Snipers - I'm sorry, we didn't get a chance to record this game. I will say that some players liked it and other had trouble figured it out. Personally, I didn't think it felt very "rooftop-y". It has some potential.
Elite Equality 2 - This was a pretty good game and I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to record it. I'd like to take the opportunity again at a later date.
Cat vs Mouse - Vietman has a pretty good game and I'd like to play again sometime. Maybe next time I'll hit the record button.
Indentificationary - We missed some time options in the lobby, and time was the major complaint about the game. I'd like to give the game another shot. It's also a good break from the normal style game, and seemed to be a hit.
Please remove the following games from the list. The games can be added again at the map makers request, although some might require bug-fixes first:
Where's Waldo - This game was short, so if you want us to feature it again, just let us know and we'll add it to the list.
Impossible Scenario (F-1) - This game is decent, but a little slow-moving for the format. We can feature it again, if you like, but it would probably be cut short again.
Raynor Party - Can be added again at the mapper's request. There's a missing model in the baneling minigame; might want to check that out.
Super Smash Bros Mass - Can be added again at the mapper's request. In it's current state, however, players will most likely leave early again.
Blood Pressure Marathon by WeedLord - This game has trigger errors and significant bugs. I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to record the game, but please fix your bugs before resubmitting.
As per OneTwo's suggestion, I may add an additional in-game dialog for determining settings by popular vote at some point, since lobby options usually go unnoticed and are clunky. It's not high on my list of priorities at the moment, though.
I am happy that a lot of sc2mappers enjoyed Map Night. Now... lets get some guests to play with us! I want to see multiple map night hostings!
I just watched the stream video. It was entertaining. I loved the part when you guys were playing Identificationary: someone made a big green Olive blob and the answer was watermelon LOL.
JmanV, good job with the commentary and stream; thank you for filling in. Even though I cannot participate with you guys (working), Im glad to be able to watch a recap of it. So JmanV can you continue hosting map night? I'll ask Sixen if he can make you the Op on this thread.
P.S it is not necssary to follow the map list in order. You can pick any map in the list or a map not even listed.
Rooftop Snipers - I'm sorry, we didn't get a chance to record this game. I will say that some players liked it and other had trouble figured it out. Personally, I didn't think it felt very "rooftop-y". It has some potential.
I'm sorry as well, but thank you very much for the overview.
Also, I still think it would be good to set up a special "Map Nights" channel in order to distinguish players who are just on SC2Mapster because they are normally there, and those who are online specifically to play during map night. It would make it easier to set up multiple map night groups in order to handle large groups of players showing up.
I really like that idea. If I were to make a chat channel called "sc2mapnight", I can just invite anyone idle in that channel any time I need more players. This would be faster for me that having to troll for more players, and easier for the players that want to join. This would also be a good place for overflow, and if there's too many people there, we know we need another organizer. I really like the thought. I think we'll do that next week.
Would you like us to give rooftop snipers another shot? I will say that some players had difficulty with it. This includes myself, but partly because it was our first game and I had forgotten I was on windowed mode (to stream), so I was having camera troubles. We also played capture the flag, and a team won although no one ever returned a flag. Not sure how that worked. If you'd like us to give it another go, I'd be happy to. You're more than welcome to join in as well.
Yes, I'd be happy to host map night on an extended basis. I pretty much always have Friday nights as a "free night". If something ever comes up, I'll try to find a replacement host and/or reschedule. Sixen already recommended to me that I recreate the thread and he will re-sticky it so that I can be the thread's OP. I will be doing that at some point soon.
I followed the list sequentially because that's whats the easiest to do when people ask "what next?" I took recommendations though, and I jumped around to a few maps I thought might be interesting (like Identificationary). Linear is just the easiest "default" when no one has any other recommendations.
Which reminds me, I wanted to ask about your map. Is it a less than 6 player map? It says six in the map creation page, but there might be a computer or two. We tried to join with six and it wouldn't let us. I should have tried again when we only had 4 later, but I didn't think about it. I wish I had, because I really wanted to try out your map since you went to all the trouble to organize map night. Next week may be better anyways. If we had played your map first, it wouldn't have been recorded.

That would be great, although feel free to bump it down on the list. I probably won't be showing up to map night until after it starts anyway. Regarding windowed mode, I discovered the other day that there's a setting, called "constrain cursor" or something like that, which allows you to scroll your camera as usual while in windowed mode.
I'm planning on making some tweaks and additions to Rooftop Snipers, so hopefully I'll have them in by Friday. Also, I recommend playing Death Match, since it seems to work better with newer players from my experience. The respawn timer is significantly shorter, so it makes for a more fast-paced game. Capture the Flag is set up so that the game can be won through kills alone, although flag captures are worth many more points (3 flag captures will win a game). If you're familiar at all with the battleground "Warsong Gulch" in World of Warcraft, that battleground's gameplay and history are the reasoning I used in not having the game won through flag captures alone.

What channel do we join?

Join the "sc2mapster" channel inside SC2. I'd love to see you there!
