OK, I am SO EXITED to have all those new models for use in the editor. Also, I love the chess theme they have set up. Can't wait to play it, should be better than the poorly made DOTA maps we get sometimes.

I have mixed feelings. In many ways making a straight up remix of dota with "OMG BLIZZARD CHARS!" seems a bit unimaginative, and a chess theme? Why? This seems like a poor design decision that has no real purpose. Overall I just don't get a sense that the design team behind this mod are really passionate about the product or have what it takes to make an amazing mod. It feels more like a half-assed attempt to hold on to the DOTA IP stricly for monatary and corporate reasons, a techicality they can bring up in court to prevent valve from owning the title. On the other hand, valve has said DOTA 2 is a straight up remake of the original with improved graphics, if this is true i'm really no more impressed by this either (though i am oblivious to the changes that have been made to the warcraft III version over the years, seems like they wouldn't be too impressive considering hte restraints of the engine). It's my hope that valve simply doesn't want to spill the beans on the awesome new stuff they have planned for fear the countless number of DOTA clones in existance now would try to steal them.
Long story short, it doesn't feel like they're making this mod because they want an awesome game, more because they have to, and i just don't see it being all that compelling visually, technically, or gameplay-wise.
I have no idea how the map is going to turn out. I hope it would have completely new abilties like in Sotis. Sure blademaster will propably have its traditional bladestorm, but I hope its not just a rmk.
And I doubt blizzard can try to sue valve for making dota 2. Blizzard practically has no part in the original dota and things that are included in it.
I just hope we geat a nice map to play.
btw has anyone tested the game in blizzcon? I would like to hear something about it.

DotA is a clone itself, just like 99% of the maps/games/whatever out there...
Copyright is a joke imho.
Personally i'm more interested in the fact that these maps will be unlocked, can't wait to have a look.
anybody who is at blizzon wont be posting here, they will be enjoying blizzcon. lol. Virtual ticket was too expensive for me, especially since videos get posted online ASAP anyway. The new models look cool, tho. They're all spikey.
Yea, only thing i want the DotA for is to get the new models and see how blizzard themselves do the hero stuff and possibly learn something from them. I probably wont play it myself.
But ill definitely try left 2 die, and probably give auir chef a shot as well (only to see whether its good or not. doesnt really interest me at the moment)
Well from the way that designer explained the DotA map it seemed to start as an employee at Blizzard wanted to make a remake of DotA in his/her own vision and it got popular with his/her colleagues and that's how it came to this? That's what I could make from the video anyway, I am not a DotA fan but it could be interesting to see how they make it. I always felt SotIs etc to be too 'oneshotonekill'.
im curious about dota too.
but not for the champions, skills ect
im more interested in seeing how the map will look (if the terrain is the same as wc3) and how they do the shopsystem.
what i hate with 90% of dotamaps is the map itself.
i mean, the 3 lanes+jungle looks nice, but its ALWAYS the same. why not make 2 lanes for 4/3 player? 4 lanes for 6 player? or alter the lane itself.
why not start with 3 lanes, then they connect to 2, then split up to 3/4 or something, its just booring to have the same maplayout in every dotagame (in sc2, lol, wc3, dont know about hon)
I am sad that they named it to dota. They could stick to the original names like aeon or corridor.
I never liked dota, however I liked DDay and TGS, specially TGS, it always seemed more creative than dota.
Also I am really looking forward for good sc2 btanks map.
This is good news because it means they will have to make improvements to the editor for it all to work properly, especially in regards to inventory and multi-level abilities etc.
Yea, can anyone post the map after it's been uploaded, cause i cannot extract them from the cache and i really wanna see stuff? If possible in this topic. I'll be looking it.
Thx.
You can already open all campaign maps in the editor, this will be the same - they have said we will have full access. So as Xtreme says you won't need to import anything, just open it like their existing maps.
Incase you don't know, you can open the existing campaign maps and learn from them. This is what they were talking about on the panel.

It seems to me the best way to resolve the trademark situation is for Valve to name their product "DoTA Allstars 2"
All the new blizzard stuff sounds completely awesome tbh, but blizzard announcements ALLWAYS sound more awesome than they are.

They already said it would have 3 lanes like normal.
I'd like to see how the balance it and make it all work. He also said it would be centered around protecting key buildings.
This is good news because it means they will have to make improvements to the editor for it all to work properly, especially in regards to inventory and multi-level abilities etc.
1. Blizzard adds in Dota
2. Look into editor and steal spells and models and other stuff
3. ???
4. Profit
I assume ?? would be importing it. And besides. I bet you cant open the map itself, just the MOD that they will have.

Blizzard is going to be making them readily available, everyone will have access to them without doing anything special..

In warcraft 3 there were some example blizzard-made maps that you had full access to, so I assume u can access the MAP through the editor
