I was trying to find a thread on sc2mapster about it, but couldn't... so I'm going to start one.
1. D3 PvP looks cool, but I feel very reminded of WoW arena, which I already did hours and hours of... either way it's a big step up from D2. Hope there's solo PvP though!
2. Blizzard's DOTA... I wonder how it will coincide with SotIS.
3. Ekcolnovkol had too much mountain dew in his hotel room and Sixen refused to give out his location (other than saying his room was 6666).

Custom map stuff (update)
****************************
Blizzard Custom Map process: Take players' feedback about your map and incorporate some changes to make your map better --> Every mapper should listen to this one. I've given feedback on a lot of maps that have (now) died because they mostly ignore feedback and will not make any large changes.
MousePosition(point X, point Y) will be added, not sure about Z. --> Damnit! Progammer our workaround is useless haha.
Blizzard is recreating War3 assets for SC2 --> Nice... could use some boats etc...
Marketplace coming Soon(TM) --> Time to buy my Aston Martin... err I mean hire more artists.
rrowland asked about the Map Locking feature, Blizz says they will update the security on it --> Good, my RPG is getting closer to release and I would hate for people to undo the save/load system (at this time).
Inventory System is being worked on. --> Cool, it is not totally an intuitive system atm.
UI Editor coming Soon --> Awesome, would be nice to piece dialogs together through this and whatnot.
Wow the new art looks awesome! I'm definitely using the archer hero from Blizzard DOTA in my RPG...
I can't imagine "Blizzard DOTA" is going to be released before a patch that fixes the terrible inventory UI and various hero bugs that plague the current version of the game. It makes me wonder if they've been developing it against a newer version of the game.
In any case, its existence bodes well for massive improvements to the inventory and leveling systems in the editor.
Good to hear blizzards making their own maps that focus precisely on what the editor is lacking in at this point. I also find it hilarious that they're doing a Left 4 dead ripoff in the starcraft 2 editor, that'll show valve for "stealing" the DOTA brand! (Seige) TAAaaaaaank!
It's not a "bash" at Valve to make a tribute map, no more than they're bashing PopCap with StarJeweled. You know what they say about imitation and flattery, anyway.
The DoTA issue might be a source of contention but at the end of the day Gabe Newell is a WoW addict and the WoW devs all play Valve games, and the future of "DoTA" is up to the lawyers.
The panel was poorly handled and they didn't address a lot of trigger related issue but just art and logic. Kinda made me die a little inside and the people who asked obvious and already answered questions were retarded...
Panel was kinda disappointing, imo. The three new maps are cool, but they could've just featured them and be done with it, not turn them into a whole panel. Additionally, what they said was really nothing new - "look, you can do cool stuff with the editor". Then the questions came in, and the few people who had questions were people QQing about the popularity system and map limits. To which Blizz replied "yeah, we don't like it, we're working on it" - aka nothing new.
Also, nice shout-out rrowland, looking like a total nerd :P
The data editor stuff I found very interesting, I haven't done much work with it before. But the the immortal tracking the mouse and turning the fire was awesome, I've been trying to get that working for a while now! :D
If they get mouse tracking, WASD movement, and anything else 'good to go' with Bnet... then I'm going to have some lovely maps coming out lol. For now, RPG = topdown.
UI designing tool is awesome though, especially if combined with ^
Their Data Editor specialist was entirely underwhelming. All of the "possibilities" he showcased were previously known and easily accomplished. The only feature that could be difficult for someone to reproduce is the cyclone, but only because there are multiple ways of going about it and both involve using underdeveloped sections of the editor.
I didn't get a chance to see that panel but it seems like a waste of time for them to do any "how-tos" at BlizzCon, instead of just laying out their future plans for the editor and talking about upcoming changes to the custom maps system. Also did they even announce the contest winners yet? I need to know who to be bitter at.
Also, pretty stoked at the new assets in Blizzard's maps. I saw a bunch of new Zerg models in Left 2 Die, new hero models (and improved versions of existing ones) as well as structures and doodads for Blizzard Dota, and a couple of new ones in Aiur Chef.
Who is the third winner? Mapster announced Photon Cannon and Rocket Arena to be two of the three.
The showing of the rainbow archon is really an odd choice. Hell, the spell contest here has more impressive stuffs and that was during beta. Seriously, teaching us how to tint models? /facedesk
Like I said, the whole thing seems to be put together at the last minute. Maybe Blizzard is too busy crunching on Cataclysm?
Yeah I'm really underwhelmed too. They've announced they're making some maps, shown they know how to use a tint blend action and a couple of improvements in the editor in general. So far it seems there's been almost nothing mentioned between all the games that is worthy of being saved for Blizzcon. Hell, SC2Mapster has more inetresting content than the Map Dev panel imo

Whats up with the tournament stream? Not a single sc2 game yet. This was supposed to start about 2 hours ago.

There's another interview before that panel and blizzard is like saying "WTF Valve, what are you doing ? We love your games but WTF ?"
And yeah this is a direct bash at Valve when they focuses on updating dota in the long run

That was Rob Pardo one of Blizzard's oldest veterans. This will be an epic showdown.

Calling it now, mouse tracking will be a fucking disaster with battle.net lag.

He was also clearly a dirty, dirty hippy. . .
Rainbows. . . . bah!

Yeah they'll be DLable mods off of bnet that we should be able to use is what I hear.
And someone was saying that some of the winning maps were just nexus wars clones etc...
I am really underwhelmed by this year's Blizzcon as well.
- Concerns of the Custom Game list, popularity-based ranking or even Battle.net in general? Not even mentioned once.
- Mention of the custom map contest? Absolutely zero, are the submissions so embarrassing that they would rather pretend it never happened?
- Cross-region publishing? Nope.
- Some stats on the number of custom games made, played, etc? Nothing.
- General state of the scene? Blizzard's thought on it? Future direction? We have no idea.
Overall, every other panel also sucks except for the Diablo 3 one. Everyone looks really tired and doesn't want to be there.

Overall disappointing for the custom map scene. Custom map winner seems to be chosen so that their map can shine.
Mentioned a map editor for diablo somewhere along the line.
No problems is discussed except showing some gay rainbow archon.
I think they just have their ninth mission statement ready to go live : "Cater to Casuals"

Thanks for letting me know where the party is Sixen.
Oh wait. Ass.
