I am just curious if there is anyone in the forums that is old enough to have played MechCommander GOLD or 2? Oh what a joy if someone created a clone with this engine! :) haha
Saw you post on the MCO moddb board, I was wanting to comment here to see if there is anyone here at this community that are either
1. interested in possible getting involved with MCO as is
or
2. able to give me a run down on possibly how difficult it would be to add the appropriate modules to SC2 to add an inventory management aspect to SC2 and possibly pave the way to a full blown MC3 mod for SC2 (I am talking in general terms here, can new code be implemented into the pre mission workings of SC2? if so is it difficult to code "modules" for SC2 or requires inside knowledge to get right? what are the tricks? useful total conversion tutorials? etc)
Though I am 100% in on MCO, since reading your post I have been attempting to investigate how SC2 modding works and at least in regards to adding new models to the game SC2 with the galaxy editor seems to be way more stream lined than MechCommander currently is. I understand your point that we are (well our coder mainly) pumping in a lot of work to get the old game working again and it maybe easier to mod SC2. I though I should at least investigate the possibility for the MCO team
Check your PM, I will post more here as soon as I can, it is late at the moment on east coast USA, long day tomm, but let me work up some examples that i have seen along with some answers and give you a good read. :)
