For 2 months @ the start of March. I have played the system.
Nearly everyday @ 7-10PM for about 1-2hours on average. I would recruit players from channels, IRC, and forums.
Forums would result in 1 person per week with a constantly bumped and fresh thread.
IRC would result in 1-2 people a night.
Chat channels would result in 1 player per 15 minutes of channel broadcasting, active channels such as Teamliquid as well. Most of the time these players would leave within the first couple minutes due to no patience.
I have concluded. That it is nearly impossible to find and retain players whom are willing to play a map without some sort of trust involved. Either it be, popularity, friends, a famous youtube broadcaster or word of mouth.

That is the way to hit the general map playing population. You have to remember what age group you are dealing with on Battle net.
