Thanks to our illustrious JademusSreg, we have a string dump of the leaked Storm alpha. Attached is the text, if you see any interesting strings, post the lines and possible speculation, since from this we may infer capabilities that will be added to the editor at a later date, should Blizzard merge the changes back into the base SC2 editor. I will try to keep up and add theories, and string sections to the first post.
Hope it's as good as the Hearthstone tutorial;

Attached is a string dump from StarCraft 2 build 28667, available in .txt and (if you wanna punish your browser) .html. Feel free to use a text comparison app to highlight the differences.
Yes, and their avenging sniping drone is heading upon you already (because, by accidend, you was the last one who posted in this thread, so they decided, that you're the one to punish).
"StormCampaign"? And here I thought HotStorm would be an online-skirmish-only game, like all the other AoS games out there. :P Wonder how they're gonna pull off a SP campaign though (assuming they will).

Well it may just be some standard tag they use for non-multiplayer assets.
I kinda doubt it's a real campaign in all honesty. I mean, what would it even be about?
All of the 'Storm' file extensions are just find-replaced versions of their SC2 counterparts.
I've loaded 'StormLib' and 'StormMap' by changing their extensions to 'SC2Lib' and 'SC2Map'. Nothing is different besides the word.
Looks like some of the m3 models have new/updated structures. There is a new LAYR version (26) and a couple of differences in the latest PAR version (v4).
So you loaded a .StormMap file with the SC2 editor by just renaming the file extension? Am I understanding that right?
Kind of. I cannot get intact StormMaps because the file format that Heroes uses to store data has not been fully figured out yet.
I got bits and pieces of one of the maps (Triggers.version, Triggers, MapScript.galaxy, t3Terrain.xml). Eventually I had enough pieces that I decided to create a new SC2Map MPQ using Ladik's Editor's ability to copy the user header of an existing SC2Map. I pointed it towards an old copy of Monlyth Ridge for the header and towards my bits and pieces for the data, and the resulting map loads.
Well at least the editors are somewhat compatible.
Still, judging from entries like "FOWColor", it looks like .SC2map and .StormMap won't be fully interchangeable. Though if that's one of just a few discrepancies, then it'll be easily solved.
No idea why it couldn't read the MapInfo - maybe cause the files the MapInfo references don't exist. There was no DocumentInfo. There are three StormMaps, three DocumentInfo.version files, but only two DocumentInfo files. I just happened to pick the map which didn't have a corresponding DocumentInfo file.
That's really interesting. There's just, as you said, "mapinfo", "documentinfo", and one invalid data reference.
All the rest are just pointless invalid models.
Maybe HotS and HotS will be compatible after all?
Does it kick out any new errors when opening the data and/or trigger editor?
Tons and tons when opening the trigger editor - I haven't linked the external libraries properly. I know very little about the correct structure of an SC2Map - all I learned was by copying Monolyth Ridge, which isn't exactly useful for learning how to add references manually for external libraries.

Notice the toggle buttons added for inventory. This repeats for the other 5 slots of inventory.
Trigger Event for when player joins a game possibly?

So many SC2 strings. Hard to tell what's even related to HotS.

Regarding native function additions, here's SC2 client 28667, here's Herostorm client 29049, and here are the new Herostorm natives.
Also, new game data.
Storm Campaign? Storm Editor? Interesting...
Any way to extract the art and sound files from the game? They're in .001 and .002 format or something like that...MPQedit can't open them.
Were did you get this? I get the impression that blizzard wouldn't like us to have this?

Aaah, I see. So you basically scavenged bits of the map and filled in the missing pieces with standard sc2 compontents. That's pretty interesting.
