The jury is in. Blizzard has no intention of changing the custom hosting system to allow new custom maps to even recruit enough players
to try a new map. We have a Nexus Wars ruined system.
I am suggesting a movement called Occupy Starcraft where users join games but refuse to play.
First of all, who says they have no intentions to change anything? Go to http://www.livestream.com/sc2streamster and search for the Blizzcon episodes of mapcraft in the bar beneath the video and go educate yourself before making such claims. The changes might not be coming fast, but they are coming.
Sorry if I sounded rude, but I am more sick of the threads about the popularity system than the system itself.
Now that that is out of the way, please go ahead and continue (Well, start) the discussion of this topic. Please stay civil and reasonable.
Videos and promises are no longer enough. It's time for results. We have waited almost 2 years for this shit to get fixed, and the map making community is about to bottom out because of this.
Regardless of how tired of it you are, I am pressing for more direct user involvment.

you guys are soft, and have been fucked over so hard for so long you do not even know whats worth fighting for anymore.
You sit back and accept the scraps from Blizzards table.
Lol. You are just wasting your time and ours. I suggest that all educated mappers ignore these kind of threads from now on. Long live impatient people.
What we really need to do is get the SC2 mapster youtube channel going with some big names. If we had Day9, TotalBuscuit, HuskySC and a few others post a review of new maps once a week per person, it would help the community out a lot. I think an idea that would be more doable for them, because I know their all very busy is if we have someone from SC2mapster record the audio and video of the game. The only thing the big name would have to do is play the game and commentate over skype. They wouldn't have to edit or anything. I think some of them would be willing to play a custom map once a week for 40 mins and then have them tweet it when the video is uploaded.
...Im in I will only play custom maps at mapnight! (and if its a bad map I probly wont play that!).
In your face blizzard!
and on more serious note. Depending on how things go, I might consider abandoning sc2 when HotS comes, but will just have to see how my projects are doing and how bnet is doing at that point.
and if we are talking about promoting maps. Couldnt sixen try to contact forcesc2strategy...He could just ask and see what the guy thinks. At this point it would be nice to have actually somekind of plan to what exactly do we want them to do. Or even better Eiviyn should ask totalbiscuit since he is working with the trolol battles. Eiviyn is quite funny so they could even try some custom maps together and dual commentate (If totalbiscuit would be up for that). The sad thing is most people probly dont want to watch custom games played, even if some are extremely fun to play, they can be extremely borng to watch. If we manage to get somekind of action going bomberbot and photon cycles would be the way to go! (I think they might be relatively fun to watch to)

You are annoyingly fanatical, and have done so little research on so big a subject that you're now trying to enforce your uninformed garbage upon others. You protest without cause, logic, realistical aim or thought about what good things your protest will destroy if it goes through.
Without even realizing it, you're the plague of the world. People who do this exact same thing are religious fanatics, people who dub themselves right-wing, people who dub themselves left-wing, a whole score of other people that do not understand how the world works, and trolls. Which are you?
If I am not mistaken Blizzard has said the system will be different in HOTS. I would not expect any change to the layout as major as you want once a games released, beta stages sure but not after its out, you cant rebuild how a system works once its out.
It would be like Microsoft patching Widows Vista to Windows 7. And lets face it, that would be stupid as all hell.
I am tired of "Occupy" movements being created by stupid people that don't understand the problem or how things work only that they are unhappy with how its running.
Balls, you are in the wrong site! This is a very fanatical pro-blizz site. Even though your thread has merit, you won't get much support here. :) And you aren't the first to suggest such ballsy moves, people had been suggesting the page 1 mappers remove their maps as protest before. Also, the 99% who hates b.net 0.2 has already left the game. The remaining 1% are pro-supporters and you won't get them to occupy anything.

Gentlemen,
The jury is in. Blizzard has no intention of changing the custom hosting system to allow new custom maps to even recruit enough players to try a new map. We have a Nexus Wars ruined system.
I am suggesting a movement called Occupy Starcraft where users join games but refuse to play.
Anyone interested?
Oh god, not something like this again >.>

FTFY.
You mean like map of the week? Brilliant idea, how did that work out in the end anyway ... ?
Like Almaity said, educate yourself before making claims such as this.
we're all sick of the popularity system, I believe that's pretty clear, and from the looks of it so is Blizzard. we'll see results in time.
you guys are soft, and have been fucked over so hard for so long you do not even know whats worth fighting for anymore. You sit back and accept the scraps from Blizzards table.
Look I'm just not ready to support anyone that has balls but no sack. Sorry.
For some reason whenever I see a crazy person with a crazy idea throw around "we"... this video comes to mind.
COME ON EVERYBODY!!!
Fact: I hate the popularity system.
Fact: Blizzard will probably improve it, even though it is massively overdue.
Fact: I am way way too lazy to protest about it.
What result do you expect from this protest?
I expect BNET to go down till it is fixed.
At least wait for HOTS and if you dont like, than just leave SC2. Its not forced on you and thats the best way to occupy/protest....
(yeah I hate bnet 0.2 too)

Does someone actually play custom maps?
