It dawned upon me that in my game speed kings, I will only really need 1 single model from Hots, and that is the tram background model.
So my question is this, are you able to export a model from a Hots dependency, and import that single model into a WoL dependency map? It would make my map that much move available to new players once I get into the later stages. And if I do need 2 or 3 more units / models I could import them as well.
@joecab: Go Right now it could get your map banned. But as DeltaV said 2.1 is going to make Arcade free so I think banning maps for that will no longer make sense.
Right I forget about that detail, and I was not aware my map could get banned for that but it makes complete sense now that I think about it.
So in patch 2.1 even if it is hots dependency anyone should be able to play it even if they have Wol? Or does the fact that it will be free to play "excuse" such an import and a person with hots would not need to invite their friends with wol to a party?
From a mapping perspective, in 2.1 do I still need to deactivate Hots dependencies for a person who did not buy Hots to play my map? Or is it going to stay as it has been were people who have Wol need to party up with someone with Hots to play a map with Hots dependencies enabled?

2.1 makes ALL arcade content available to the SC2 Starter Edition.
You are free to add whatever dependencies you please, everyone will still be able to play your map regardless of what they have, or have not, purchased.

"With the advent of Patch 2.1, we're blowing the doors off the Arcade and Custom Game modes by making them completely free to all players."
I assume that "completely free" means that anyone can play any map regardless of dependencies.
@joecab: Go If all you need is a single model, importing it may still be the best option, so you don't force players to load one more dependency because of it. I'd say give both options a few tests. Upload both versions and ask for a few people to try them, see if loading time is longer with HotS added to it.
Players already have the HotS mod, don't they? If anything downloading that one model costs extra time. I wouldn't risk it until I heard from Blizzard.

That's a good point and so is OutsiderXE's. It's extra download time (assuming sc2 has been fully downloaded by the user) vs extra load time (¿untested though?) so the more models you use the more reason you have to add the HotS dependency.
But if you do decide to import them, make sure you don't publish it before 2.1. :P

if its 2.1 just use hots, no need to dick around with importing anything just add hots dependency and be done with it.

Thank you very much for the answers :)

I did not think of that aspect, I know it is a small thing, but I will take any improvements to performance, and lower download times that I can :)
