I am creating a campaign and I have completed a few maps so far, but I haven't created a sc2mod-file for them because I am confused about the workflow.
It is my understanding that I have to close my map and then reopen the editor with the mod-file to make a few changes to the mod (Data stuff). Otherwise it would show me an error that I can`'t save changes to a mod-file if another map using that mod is also currently opened by the editor.
If I don`t close the editor and reopen it, I'm able to make local changes only in the opened map.
Is there somehing I am missing? Can you somehow change a mod with the map opened? How do you work with a mod?
In Warcraft 3 it had two Data Editors visible at any time when working with a campaign. One for the campaign and one for the currently opened map.
edit: apparently closing the map via "file->close" is a bit faster. still not ideal but according to a thread from march there seems to be no faster way.
@OutsiderXE: Go You don't need to close the editor and reopen it, simply closing the map will do. There is no other way around it.
Cacho's suggestion is a good one if you want to test the mod, this way you wont need to open maps all the time if you dont want to work on them directly.

You can select a map to test the mod: "Go to preferences -> Test map", and complete the option of the testmap.
Then, when you test the mod with ctrl f9, the SC2 client will open your testmap (you don't need to have the map opened).
