I find it incredibly hard to follow my threads especially when i see someone asking for help and i post a suggestion or question but forget where i did it. Notifications could help to stop a lot of dead end threads that people have forgotten about. I would like to see this feature brought to mapster for my benefit and the benefit of the community.
Yeah, it would be nice to get an email alert of even just a little note on the top of the website. Im not sure how hard that is to program into a website, though.

If it was just like the private message notification it'd be incredible. Liek you click it and it says "You have replies in these threads" and gives you a link to each thread with new posts that you posted in
Yeah, most forum systems these days have "subscribe to thread" options allowing you to be notified instantly, daily, weekly...etc. I assume there are already standard libraries and/or systems that make integrating this into your forum easier.
SC2Mapster should give the ability for ppl to block certain other people's posts and topics from showing up on their screen when they log in to the forum. I would really like to just completely ignore a few people's posts/topics from now until eternity.
We have a lot of things we'd like to add to these forums, but the problem is that we lack support from curse (who I would think prioritises other websites they have over mapster (Don't quote me on this, and do not count this as an official statement, I don't work for curse so I don't know :P)) to do it, the admins have other projects they work on for the moment.
We are well aware of features you would like to see, and I apologize that some of the ones most needed haven't been put into action.
However, please refrain from posting about things that have been posted about multiple times before. We do listen to your suggestions/feedback.
And as TheAlmighty linked you, we do have a separate thread about suggestions here.
Edit: Also, I just noticed that you necro'd a thread from like 5 months ago, and made me think it was a new topic. Bad! Don't do that.

This seriously community issue that needs solving so necro posting in this thread is alright in my opinion.
I'm not so keen about curse actually owning this site if what you said is indeed the case.

It is also an issue that is stated in our designated thread and an issue we are well aware about so making post after post about it does no good at all.
What more can come out of the discussion other than "[Insert Problem Here]" and "[We know about it, and when we can do something about it, something will be done about it]". = Unneeded necro.

Since I do not know if this actually is the case, I'm hoping you won't treat this like the Activision>Blizzard matter and blame Curse for stuff until it's a fact.
You know a lot of people who come here are clueless right when they start, especially if they don't use forums often. Some kind of official "guidelines" page with basic rules might be nice and help them figure out not to do stuff like that. But is it really better to make a new thread about the same thing as an old thread instead of just necro posting in it?

I was just merely questioning this site's operator Curse. So far Curse hasn't done anything to improve the site other than changing its skin.
Yep, necro posting tends to happen. Nothing we can do to prevent it.
But is it really better to make a new thread about the same thing as an old thread instead of just necro posting in it?
Neither. There is a stickied thread called "[Official] Forum upgrade suggestions" and I believe stickies are on top of the list of threads, you should be able to see them before you make a thread.
We're not -against- necro:ing per say, if the necro is reasonable. However, when the topic is about a single suggestion/request about something to add to the forums:
Is it really better to make new threads saying the same thing as a post in an official suggestions thread, or is it better to necro a 5 month year old thread about the same thing that is already said in an official suggestions thread?
I wouldn't have anything against if the suggestion was repeated in that thread, since I know a lot of people don't read all pages of a thread, but when there actually is a thread for suggestions I find it rather unnecessary to make a thread for a single one, would you like it if each of the suggestions in the thread had it's own thread?
That would make it hard to find the actual threads about starcraft stuff.
Edit: Also, the word "thread" is used 15 times in this post.
I think Curse as a company expected the sc2 custom map scene to explode with activity. The reality is 6 posts per hour at peak time and about 15 people viewing the forum as a whole. I wish I knew why sc2 custom maps didn't take off like wc3 did. I keep hearing complaints that the sc2 editor is too difficult to learn, but I'm pretty sure those people are just stupid since the editor is pretty damn intuitive 99% of the time (looking at you, non weapon based beam actors).
I think lack of support is really a minor hitch compared to the gross black hole that currently resides where a glorious pile of amazing sc2 maps should be, though I guess some basic forum features like being able to track threads and moderators actually being able to lock threads would be nice.
It doesn't help that literally 50% of the forum subforums are useless. I mean really, is there a point in having so many subforums? It actually makes it difficult to remember where the thread you posted in was. Is there really any need for a seperate data and trigger forum? How about merging artist's tavern and terraining since they're basically the same thing with different tools. Misc development is basically just a place that people use to dump threads that they don't want to use the relevent sections for. "Map Review", "Map Feedback" and "Project Workplace" are all different words for the same thing since the forums are identical in purpose anyway.
God only knows why there's an "Art Assets" forum and a seperate "Artist's Tavern" forum. Yes, I know the former is meant for completed work but be realistic here, does it really need a separate forum? Same with data assets and trigger libraries. Actually, sod this. The only forums that should even be here are;
General Discussion
Team Recruitment
Offtopic
Trigger/Data Editor
Terrain/Art
Galaxy Scripting
Misc Development
Project Workplace
Tutorials
Anything else is just too niche to warrant a forum.

We can blame the pop sys for that. No author actually gets credit nor any incentive to continue mapping since the maps aren't distributed properly.
Yea true. Maybe things will turn around when the map marketplace is implemented.. Who knows.

Well, Starcraft 2 is kinda dead at the moment imo. I dont think too many people actually care about it anymore.
