Well, recently Progammer has been the most active moderator in SC2Mapster. He is not only acting like the all-seeing-eye that reads all the threads, but he's the only one who updates the front-page news.
Where is Sixen? Where is Vjeux? They don't show up anymore! Why? I believe that Progammer captured them and locked them in a custom map. It's all part of his plans to take over SC2Mapster.
(Ps.: If progammer locks this thread, that will be the confirmation of my suspicions).
Im actually online Sc2mapster for quite a bit of hours each day. Monitoring.. I always know whats going on..
But progammer`s `awesome meter` surpasses most of us. What can I say?;p
vjeux got assigned somewhere else. He is working on mmo-champion of something.
Sixen, Well, When you are the boss and have minions. You dont have to do grunt work duh. Its called "delegating" ;p
Well, considering that StarCraft II is a horrible modding platform, support, Battle.net integration and user treatment wise, I wouldn't be surprised at them being heavily bored(Like I am).
Then again, it might just be the whole no-WarCraft-fantasy atmosphere that turns some off.
Horrible modding platform? I dunno about you, but I think the editor is awesome. I agree with the Battle.net integration though (who doesn't). The only real problem with the editor is actors (since half the actor fields seem to be only half-way programmed) and hard to learn. Once you learn, it's really powerful though. I suppose its a bit slower than WC3's but its quite a bit more effective.
I do miss swords and bows though :(
I feel like the editor will be made a high priority for Heart of the Swarm. They'll have had a year to make a second campaign and upgrade the editor. They don't need to remake all of battle.net, all the units, etc;
Sad fact: UDK is easier to work with & can do more awesome stuff a lot better :\
I lurk around and kill off some of you people from time to time, but honestly, I haven't been on SC2 that much lately. It lacks Content, Support and overall fun in it's current state. Also, most of the stuff going on in my regularly visited forums doesn't quite manage to catch my attention at the moment or is simply a repeated version of something we had earlier from people who do not know how to use the search. I usually spend my time on the IRC, looking over people's stuff to see what they could/should change to make it better.
All in all, I currently don't have the will to do a lot more than a bit of ModCraft. Blizz kinda ruined SC2 for me with what they did, dunno.
i think if battlenet custom game scene manages to change the way how they operate right now, There will be alot more mappers coming back, but till then sc2 custom game scene is dieing pretty fast when compared to warcraft 3 custom game scene. Mappers just dont see the point. If some changes like these could happen, i think lots of ppl would be happy
-improve the popularity gauge in which it determines how a map is popular
-new sorts that dont have popularity as default, if it stays default no matter how many other sorts you include, the pop sort will stay the most used one, and you cant have that if you want to encourage newer maps. ( this is the biggest reason cause now the motiviation to make a new map is hardly there, when theres like 99% chance your map will fail with this pop system)
-as much as some map makers may not like Dota, The Blizzard dota 2 is really needed right now. Why? Because when blizzard dota gets released, there will be a whole bunch of attention brought to custom map scene, And not only will the custom map side be getting more attention, we really could do with alot of new special effects/models/voice soundlists /doodads this dota is going to give all map makers the ability to use. Warcraft models in sc2 will spice things up alot :D
@progammer: Go
Eternal what ever happened to that AOS type map you were working on btw.... still in development?
Yeah, Close to completion. Patch 1.2 will give us that extra functionality we`ve been waiting for.
Its funny, In wc3 I could Solo create maps. But with GE, its an entirely different story o.0.

It's not that I doubt the flexibility and the power of Galaxy Editor but I just feel empty and unable to contribute anything to the community. Surely I can make cool code, but attention has been nullified by the Data Editor since that is where all the attention is focused on.
Retard: "OOO! I can use the data editor to attach a bomb on all spaceships within an area and then after they've exploded, I can create a big bang on every single dead unit and then create a nebula which will form new galaxies and stars using gravity. Oh oh oh! A baneling has this ability!"
...
Also, it just doesn't feel the same when maps published on Battle.net stay there permanently. We the users aren't in charge of what maps are popular anymore. It's not like in the old days when we could simply host a map, it appears on the custom map list, people jump into it, and then launch and have fun.
Yeah my excitement died down too. Sad to see that Vjeux is not on sc2mapster anymore, that guy was a good friend. Sixen seems a bit quiet lately. I will admit though, like some have suggested here, I find sc2mapster a bit less exciting too these days.
I still check multiple times a day, usually looking at the active forum thread box, but just seems like less interesting stuff being posted on the forums..
Personally I'm still working on maps, and I'd like to keep doing tutorials... I can't wait for 1.2's popularity change!!
And then there's my long-awaited RPG which I need to get done. It's just so daunting trying to do items that I don't even want to work on it: Item, unit for the item, actor for the unit for the item, button for the item, button for purchasing the item, then any weapons/effects/behaviors for said item, then add it to the store ability. It's very time consuming to make one, especially with all the renaming after a duplication.
I'm seriously considering that when I get the models from Blizz DOTA, to do a revamp of my RPG into some form of barbarian/fantasy/viking world. I personally prefer fantasy over sci-fi and I think that will help me get motivated.
The editor is awesome and mostly what I dreamed of taking War3 further, but it is more time consuming because the things that were standard in war3, we have to remake from scratch here. And then there's the always re-iterated popularity thing...
No seriously, I've been working on sc2mapster during 6 months and I wanted to see other things. My role at sc2mapster was mainly newsing and organizing the forums. This is community stuff and while this is really exciting to do, this is far away from my original wish: coding!
I had the opportunity to do development stuff at Curse on other websites so I took it.

Implement the new skin of MMO Champion and Arena Junkies
Update WoWTal for Cataclysm
Develop internal tools for mmo-champion: diffs, table generation
Sorry for my sneaky departure to all my fans! (where there any!?)
Oh, and I believe I said something earlier about programmer being the most active modder on sc2 mapster. I'm a fan of everyone on this thread, just so you know. :)

Maybe he's the only one having fun with SC2 editor.
they have probably been silenced for voicing negative opinions about anything related to sc2.
or maybe that was me. i forget.

I think the maps should rotate somehow. Its just messes everything up that all the same maps stay on the first page....

Seriously why do i have to take over a site that is dying ... Nice analysis btw
Site seems pretty active to me. Though some of the excitement may be gone.
Theres also a lack of improvements being made to the site as well. Such as a better search feature.

I'm sure Blizzard will eventually address the most important issues that are turning off most modders.

Why every thread has to turn into pop sys and editor talks. Lets get back to topic and talk about how awesome I am
I am dead :(
