It's not "pay-to-win". It's "hey, here's a safe place to buy the items you would've instead bought off a shady chinese website".
Or did you not know that D2 was dominated by real-money item sales on third party websites?
It's just taking something that was already going to be there, accepting it, and integrating it into the game. I think it's a pretty bold move that just might end up working out.
i think it's a cash grab, they saw a market and they want a slice
who gives a shit if it ruins the game and makes actually playing it pointless
those websites should be condemed and action taken to disrupt their trade. NOT INTEGRATED INTO THE GOD DAMN GAME.
it'll only get worse. gold farmers need not fear the ban hammer anymore. all the best items will be sold. people will be laughed at for not having the very best gear and called noobs because they didn't buy their gear. COOKIE CUTTER ONLY PvP.
I have to say... I'm not a graphics whore, but that "b-roll" did not look good. The characters looked like they were pasted into the scene, they had no lighting effect at all. Were they playing that demo on some low-end machine, because it looked (in fullscreen 720p) like it was really lagging and running at mostly 20fps (I would know how it looks like, I've played a lot of games that way :P). The NPCs had blob shadows... what the hell? SC2 has proper shadows for every unit. I hope that was low/medium settings :/
I think they were playing it on low end. But it's surprising when these 2 images look similar/comparable (ones a very old WoW photo, other from d3 b-roll).
was a funny quote i got from reddit in regards to why they've removed stat allocation
"basically they dont want intelligent people getting an unfair advantage over unintelligent people by allocating their stats correctly"
this is THE description of dumbing down a game. something skilled players are able to use to get a leg up over people who aren't as good at the game.
stat allocation is gone, most skill allocation is gone, theres a pretty lame skill customization system that seems pointless.
you dont even need to farm items, just buy them.
it really pisses me off they've implemented this system and are encouraging people to use it.
my fucking gaming life is ending as i see it.
people are overly positive about this and are obviously going to support it.
more games will implement similar features and it's only going to get worse.
what have i done with my life....
*EDIT*
also i agree the graphics really are very underwhelming
people also joked about this stuff years ago
now it's a reality
One post with excessive language is tolerable (sometimes), but an entire thread of you linking every foul word you know into one sentence is unacceptable. Especially given you are now encouraging terrorism as a method for fixing what you perceive to be a problem.
This is an official warning. That's 3 now. Shape up or you will find yourself removed from the community.
You have good points, learn how to communicate like an adult.
I just hope the game will have CGI Cinematics(The likes of which made Diablo 1, 2, Wc2, Wc3 so epic) and not utilize in-game rendered animation for story telling(I hate that crap. Wotlk ending, All through out Starcraft 2, etc.).
I dont know, but I personally have some doubts that the game will be as epic as its predecessor (I played Diablo 2 for 8 years). I think they will probably fk up the story and lore like what they did with Starcraft 2. But yea Im definitely looking forward to it. Just have to wait and see.

This is something you learn after you screw it up and have to remake your character, not intelligence. Intelligence is the ability to apply what you know to a given situation to solve a problem. You can't possibly know how to allocate your stats unless you either researched the game or have previously made that same error. Both are poor design choices.
There's also very little freedom in stat allocation. Either you do it right and power a select few stats, or you do it how you like and ultimately end up with a poor character. Again, two poor design choices.
Perfection is not when there's nothing left to add, but when there's nothing left to take away.

]100%I don't like getting info about games before they come out. I like to experience the thing completely fresh for the best experience.
It would be the same way for movies if there were any movies that came out lately that were worth watching.

ruins the entire game for me.
This industry is going in a direction I disagree with.
EDIT: Tact.
Damn sixen's post was good... probably way more indepth than most big sites too... but I haven't checked yet.
The direction this industry is going is disagreeable.

The images are like 10 years apart lol.
I don't like the direction the industry is going.
