I've noticed that simple things can drop my fps below 30, when I can play Crysis on max settings and never drop below 30 fps.
In general, is this game programmed inefficiently?
Simple examples (but not limited to) are such as:
When a siege tank uses a splash damage from it's normal attack, SC2 checks EVERY UNIT on the map and checks whether or not it is within bounds of that attack.
When you have 10+ siege tanks firing, this splash check gets ridiculous with many units on the map.

Its more like, its programmed for starcraft 2 with max about 200 units.
But I do think they might could make some changes, which would seriously increase the processing on custom maps, like making us able to disable more stuff on units...
WC3's auras seemed to work so naturally, while the Mothership's cloaking field is a periodic search area behavior. I'm not sure how WC3's aura worked but I surely know that the SC2's aura system is pretty processing intensive with the way it works.
