So, apparently I was a bloody idiot a year ago. I was modifying all these parent units and not duplicating at all. I want to undo this and duplicate all the units that need it. Problem is, I have no idea how to efficiently reset a parent to it's defaults. Obviously right-clicking and clicking reset to parent doesn't work. Is there some other way to do it? I've tried deleting all these text values and stuff, but some I just can't delete for some reason.
EDIT: Specifically Editor Prefixes. For some reason many of these seem un-fixable.
The easiest way to reset a parent unit is to delete it. Modifying the default units will always create an editable copy of it and leave the original unchanged, so if you delete it, the copy will be replaced by the original object again.
Text values like Editor Prefixes are another story. If you change the text without changing the original key, you indeed change the original file with no simple way to recover it within the editor. You can try to open the text editor and search for your desired text and change it back to what it was, if you happen to know it or can look it up.
You can also try to modify the text files within the map directly; it should theoretically be possible to delete all changed original text keys, however I never did this, so I am not sure.
Make sure to create a backup of your map, if you experiment with deleting stuff.
Hm, thanks for the help. I ended up just deleting all the data and starting anew. It'd have been more trouble to delete them all individually with how I had it set up, so I just deleted all the data files in an MPQ editor. It was really messy, and It'll be better to work on my own terms. Thanks anyways guys, this'll be nice for future reference on a hopefully much smaller scale.

@Kueken531: Go
Duplicate all modifications, then hit reset to parent.
Switch to xml view and delete the data objects which you don't need.
That should get rid of the remaining custom names.
