My spine crawler jiggles when the weapon starts but does not to the impaling animation. I don't understand how this beast works because the missile is invisible and I can't find where the actual attacking missile fits in. I can't see it on the original.
Edit: Does the spine crawler attach itself to the invisible projectile?
the spiner crawlers is just nasty to duplicate, this hopefully will be fixed in the next patch when all the actors can be duplicated correctly.
Currently when you duplicate the spine crawler it doesn't duplicate a couple of the other actors required, which you will need to do manually and line all the right feilds up
gimme a sec, trying to find the link where someone talks through it
this is one of them, I suggest just typing in the search "spine crawler duplicate" and going through all the threads and fixing up the various problems until you get the result you need working.
As i said its kind of a messy progress, and I don't remember what exactly needs to be done
Does the spine crawler attach itself to the invisible projectile?
In essence, this is correct.
This tutorial contains the basic information behind this technique; it is quite complicated, though, and the tutorial covers more than pure spinecrawler duplication.
I've seen that forum already but that link does not work and I have setup the launch effect as described. I think what I am having trouble with is linking the tactical (weapon attachment) to the invisible object.
Edit: OMG I'm an idiot. I was so focused on attaching the spine crawler that I forgot to switch the ammo unit to the new one I made. Thanks guys you pointed me in this direction.

When duping a spine crawler there are two faults that occur. This thread covers them.

In short the tentacle is attached to the missile via a reference and in the case of neural parasite is then switched to a site actor.
