Still sorta new to the galaxy editor (read: super noob), but here's what I'm trying to do:
A unit walks onto a beacon and makes all enemy units in a specified custom area show up as those red sensor tower signatures. I don't, however, want that big white line on the minimap, as the semi-revealed area is not to be in a circle shape.
I doubt this is possible, but could I also make a custom "white line area" for my custom sensor tower?
It's very possible, I don't lnow bout making the custom line of sight or line of Radar sight, but the others, are very possible, use the xe;'naga tower sense for the beacon part, and i g2g, school, so i will tell u later
The Sensor Tower has either a Behaviour with a Radar field. It is default at 30. You can set this to whatever you like and the according circle in the minimap will shrink or grow. If you want to delete it entirely, you will need to look at Range Actors.
The sensor tower has a Range actor that shows how far it works, and there is a flag in the Range actor for showing it on the minimap--uncheck that. Or remove the actor altogether if you don't want it to show at all, even off the minimap.
You can use an Interact ability to make the unit gain the sensor behavior when it steps on the beacon, but you can also just apply a behavior to the unit. Both have their benefits, depending on exactly what you want to do.
