Patch 2.0.4 brings with it the abillity to preload data. Does anyone have any ideas on what the difference is between preloading this stuff, as oppsed to the current method is? Here are some pics to demonstrate
p.s. yes i know it can preload banks now too, and i like that feature but i don't get the rest of it.
The primary reason we added this was for the Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm single player campaigns. Many parts of the campaign bring you back to the same map but with a different state, so we needed a way besides the automatically generated preload list per map to identify what needed to be preloaded before triggers had a chance to run. This is very important in a streaming build because we download all data the map needs early in the loading process for a map. If you'd like to see examples of how it's used, you can look at the Liberty Story preload data. Note that it also makes use of the Bank Condition catalog to handle story mode conversation state preloading.
