Only way I found was to make a turn sensor using data that can then be referenced. Check my data assets for a demo. That old version of my walker has a more robust version in it.
I found it, I'm utterly confused about how It works. I notice this detects turret and determines if the unit is rotating. I need to see if a unit is facing and moving between 2 angles in the actor.
No way to make it better in data than with triggers. The option could be State Monitor that checking unit facing angle, but there is no such actor term or validator. Probably with some messy workarounds you can make something similiar in data but it's not the best idea. Just check the unit angle and send the message via triggers to the main unit actor or whatever you want. Better mixing data and trigger approaches whenever it's suitable and convinient for particular task rather than going crazy with "pure data"
It uses two offset persistent effects spaced by a small time interval. As it turns in one direction or another the distance between the offsets is increased or decreased based on direction (think Doppler shift). The Location Range validators then use that distance to determine what buff is applied. The Create Persistent effect can be set to have static offsets independent of the unit rotation, it would simply be a matter of having one of the persistents staying put while one turns with the unit.
im playing with actors doing texture swaps and such. Anyways i need to have an event in a unit actor to pop off when unit changes angle.
I dont want to do it via trigger, if i dont have 2.

ah well in light of the persistent i would have to agree with abvdzh for the sake of efficiency and handle it via triggers.
Well you were still slightly fuzzy as to what you want it for.

Sprite detection
Use triggers.
