How do I make a Terran building have a protoss shield? I would also like to have the ripple and damage affect which will only be triggered if the shield is damaged.
do you mean, how do you make terran buildings have the big blue sphere around them when shields are being damaged? that would have something to do with the actors of the shields that you are using. not sure if shields are automatically using toss shield actors though. if you mean how do you make the damage hit the shields first, that is automatic.

Yeah, that's what I mean. I've looked around and I have no idea how it works, mind explaining it to me?
well if you carried over the protoss shield actors and junk they have it already. just get all that crap into your unit and its all set.
That doesn't seem to help what-so-ever. Exactly what actors, you need to be a bit more specific. If it really was that easy, I wouldn't be here asking for help. I've checked the protoss structures and I so far seen nothing about a shield. Are they built into the models or is there a way to set it to other buildings?
I ended up using the immortal's "Harden Shield" ability. It's not exactly what I'm asking for but it's the closest thing. If anyone knows how to trigger the protoss shield model affects, please let me know.
Had a look and it looks like the shield impacts could be attached to the actual models themselves, although I swear I got this displaying for some Terran units a long time ago.
Right, so, I once added the Immortal's shields to a baneling.
When you add the Hardened Shield behavior to a unit (don't forget to give this unit some shield points) the effects should pop up by themselves.
If you have used a copy of the Hardened Shield then go to the actor "Shield Absorb Immortal Viz", open the Events field and dublicate the "Behavior.HardenedShields.DamageHandled" and insert your own behavior instead of HardenedShields.
I don't know how the normal Protoss shields are created. I know their actors, but not how they're activated.
Thanks, can get the immortal shields working, but like you say the normal protoss shields are the problem. I can create a unit to display the protoss shield, but it's really not ideal, as there's functionality existing already for this.
I've messed around with the shield impact actor but haven't had any luck with it creating for non-protoss units. It only works if I change the unit model to a protoss unit.
new idea, start with a protoss unit, then copy over the easy stuff like command card and abilities and model from the terran unit you want. perhaps not exactly ideal but if you cant get the ideal way to work a workaround is your next best bet.

Updated original post to be more clear.

Bump..
I've got the exact same problem, if anyone knows the solution please don't hold back
