There's a fair bit of default code built for players to use in making their own inventory. I'm not entirely sure what you have to do to add an inventory (i think you might have to make your own UI) but the actual inventory part is already handled by Blizzard stuff.
Does anyone know how Storm of Imperial Sanctum's Inventory is done? It seems abit too efficient for it to be done through dialogs. =/
Blizzard doesnt want us to know and wants us to make our own :(

How would the standard blizzard inventory be displayed in a dialog box that's always on the screen, rather than within its own window?
I'm fairly confident he lets you shop via a dialog. Then when you buy something, he simply creates the item in your inventory.
In SotIS, the shop is a bunch of dialogs. The inventory slots are handled by the Container data type through an Inventory ability each hero has.
