I am currently at work so I can't check this for myself. I was wondering if anyone was able to attach a model to a missile? If I remember correctly, last time I did this, the attachment was created, but then didn't move with the missile.
What I am looking for is something like the following:
Unit shoots a banana
Fire is attached to the flying banana
It works, but some missile models do not have any attachment points, which causes it to malfunction. In this case, you can use an invisible model with attachment points as a base and attach both models.
It is possible to attach a model to a Missile. You have to be sure you use the right attachment point, else it will just get created and stay there just like if you want to attach it to an unit. Just use Host Site Operations to attach it to an attachment point. =3
As far as I know, as soon as you set the actor's type to missile, it prevents any kind of attachment regardless of what model you use.
Using a non-missile actor results in the launch point defaulting to origin.
It's been a while since I tried this, but I tried extensively.
Are you sure? I use actors of type missile for all my missiles, and I attached other models without any problems before.
€ there we go, marauders shooting burning bananas. I made the default marauder weapon invisible, not sure, if you even need to do this, maybe you can just replace the model and only use one attachment.
Actor type is missile, and the attaching seems to work just fine.
When I was trying to make a custom unit I couldnt attach stuff to it....any idea why is this? Iv been wondering this for so long, but I just duplicate units since my self made units dont allow such a thing :/
Without any further information, we probably won't be able to help you. What exactly didn't work? Which units/models were involved? Can you upload a map showing this?
Dunno then. My attachments were based on behaviours applying model additions, might've been my error or some issue with behaviours and missiles, can't be bothered to test as I found other work-arounds.

Thus, the unit is shooting a flaming banana.

Flaming banana should work just fine.

If in doubt attach it to the origin since even models lacking attachment points seem to have one made for them.

Thanks a bunch. I don't think the missile I tried had an attachment point. That helps me a lot.

@zenx1: Go

Maybe it got fixed in 1.4. In 1.3 I tried exactly that and it was a choice between origin-missiles or no attachments.
I did this before, on several occasions, for example here

I had not problem attaching two viking models onto another viking model missile.
