Hey guys, I'm looking for a little bit of help because as I played on ladder yesterday, I noticed that the map "Nimbus" have the Hybrid Gas Giant Skybox in the background. However, he actually has a grey version of it instead of the usual orange.
The thing is, in the first map of my campaign, I attempted to to just that with that same skybox, but I couldn't figure it out and initially thought that it wasn't possible to do. But now, I see I was wrong.
I searched the Nimbus map on the editor and actually went into data and stuff to look for the changes he made, but unfortunately, I can't find them. Does anyone know how you can change the color of a skybox?

Well there are 2 ways to do this off the top of my head without using any other programs.
Within the lighting editor, when you change the overall universal lighting and exposure, the skybox is effected by these changes. He could have removed most of the red color thus giving the skybox a grey color. Since the map seems to have a grayish blue color to it, he most likely chose or made a lighting with very little red in the universal lighting.
If that is not what was done (and you still want the reds), a more roundabout method would be to make the skybox a doodad, and then tint the doodad a grey blue color to counteract the reddish orange of the skybox. But since you looked through the data this is most likely not the method he used.
You can set it as a doodad as joecab said and use TextureSelectById to swap its texture with an actor message. The model uses "smoketile2orange.dds" in the diffuse layer. Search for textures called "smoketile", and you will find them in different colors, or you can just edit the one it uses with photoshop and reimport it.
If you want to edit another skybox, find the textures it uses in the scene editor, and proceed in the same way.
You can also do what joecab say (about changing its tint) via data with an actor message "set tint", but it won't look perfect for example if you want to make it blue (orange doesn't have blue, so it will tend towards white). Anyway, it's easier doing it on joecab's way, since it will be done only once.
Thanks for the useful suggestions! Really appreciate it, and I ended up reaching my goal.
I tried messing with the different lighting options. Unfortunately, I'm don't have complete mastery of all the different tools, and I didn't see any differences in the skybox for some reason.
I did the doodad-thing and actually changed its model to the skybox I wanted, and with the help of a little tint-coloring, it worked perfectly.
It doesn't look exactly the way it does in the Nimbus map, but it's definitely better than the skybox I had before :D
