I'm working on customizing units for my map and I've run into a problem with Siege Breaker damage. I want to edit their damage. I figured out how to edit their damage vs targets like light/armored/etc but the problem is there are like 7 Arclite damage mods and I don't know which ones I need to change for it to properly apply to the tank. Do I need to edit all of them? Just one? I know I have to edit the friendly fire separately as well, I just need help with which of the Arclite damage effects I need to adjust.
There are
ArcliteShockCannon:
Set
Friendly Damage (I know this is for friendly fire)
Enemy Damage (editing this one didn't change the value on the unit)
Dummy (this one seems to change the damage but not on the unit?)
Directed (does this mean when you target a specific unit manually?)
Blast Set
Blast
Which ones do I need to modify so that it does proper damage across the board to enemy units and have it display properly? Thanks in advance.
No, what you did was trial and error, not tracing. Trace exactly what each effect/behavior does until you have a complete picture, then change what you want. Giving a complete answer would require me to do what you should do, since I haven't memorized how everything in the game works yet. You can usually click on a data entry and it will tell you every place it's referenced. Some of the things you listed might not even function.
I did.
I started at the Siege Breaker.
That took me to Arclite Shock Cannon
That took me to Arclite Shock Cannon Set
which takes you to guess what
Arclite Shock Cannon Set
Arclite Shock Cannon Directed (which as stated above only modifies when you tell it to attack something.
follow Arcliteshockcannonblastset and GUESS WHAT AGAIN?!!
It goes to
ArcliteShockCannonBlast (Doesn't affect Damage)
ArcliteShockCannonFriendlyDamage (durp durp)
ArcliteShockCannonEnemyDamage (Also doesn't modify unit damage)
There is no weapon modifier on Shock Cannon Set. So stop implying I'm stupid, and help me. I had no choice but to trial and error the resulting effects because there IS NO trace route to where the damage is. Which is why I'm here.
I can't figure it out, I've found everything about it but how to modify auto targeted damage, and how to have it displayed on the unit. this is the ONLY unit I've had this problem with so far.
yeah, that value doesn't change, even if I find a value that will make my tank do damage. With all my other units I modified, all I had to change was the damage of the weapon they were linked to and those values changed.
While I have a few people reading I have one other issue, I screwed up a unit's attack somehow, it shoots one laser then stick to the target but does not continue to fire, I stole the BC's laser attack and put out a BC and tested it and it still works so I messed it up on the unit itself somehow but I'm not sure what I did, any idea why it would only fire 1 attack at a target? It's a stationary unit and it worked before at a full 360 degree range and e verything but I hit something that makes it only fire once now...

@Garrash: Go
You trace through the data until you find which one does what. You know, use that noggin of yours.
@shardfenix: Go
thus what is what in the parenthesis... So how about a helpful response from someone?

@Garrash: Go Oh nvm just reread your thread.

When you say display you mean like if you move your mouse over the icon is says 100 damage and all that?
@I1AEdit: Go
yeah, that value doesn't change, even if I find a value that will make my tank do damage. With all my other units I modified, all I had to change was the damage of the weapon they were linked to and those values changed.
The icon displays damage from dummy effect. Look to weapon->damage display effect, there it is.
@Garrash: Go
Strange cause i changed my siege breaker's damage and the value changed.
@DuckyTheDuck: Go
So I change the dummy effect to change the Icon, and I change... what to change the actual damage?
@Garrash: Go
I am guessing blast would be what you want?
(omg I got upgraded to cat!)

Awesome, thanks so much!

@Garrash: GoIt's listed under the dummy area in combat, find amount and change the nmber to what damage you want it to cause.
@I1AEdit: Go
I think I got it working thanks :-D now I just need to fix that other problem ><
@Garrash: Go
What was the other problem?
@I1AEdit: Go
Blast changed the damage and dummy changed the displayed damage.
@Garrash: Go
Then uh why don't you just edit them to be the same?
@I1AEdit: Go
I did... that's why I said I got it like 3 posts ago ;-)
