I have looked at the posts for duplicating items(I just get confused) and when I try to make a custom missile turret all hell breaks loose. I can get a model, but it just sits there and the little freaking light blinks at me HAHA *&^%er try again! It will not fire a longbolt missile out. I did however get it to launch once but It was looking at the actor from a different turret (I could not change it). All I want to do is make a Basic Turret (Missile turret) and have custom cost and damage. I spent 3 days trying to figure it out and well..... Guess I can’t figure out stupid.... I was told to try this site and the Duplicate tutorial makes no sense to me (sorry for those it does).
My questions:
1. What do I copy in the duplicate window for it? (This is my main question)
2. What items do I alter their names from the "copies name" to the "Basic Turret" naming?
3. Do I even need to later the name of the "Longbolt Missile" to have custom damage?
4. If i just make a copy of a Missile Turret, alter the damage for it without copying the damage effect, will it change the global effect of the damage for the turret? Thus would it only be only for the global "damage effect" for that map and not the hole editor?
I have made a photon cannon and a missile turret in the map. I have also completed the map for a tutorial video onetwosc made on you tube using the Beta editor. The map works pretty well, my custom photon cannon works, but for christ al mighty this missile turret is kicking my butt!
If this was the wrong channel for this post I am sorry I just need help and this is my very last resort before completely giving up on the freaking missile turret.
You'd need to duplicate the Missile Turret unit itself and then checkbox:
all of the Actors
the Missile Turret effects
the Missile Turret turret
the unit Weapon - Longbolt Missile
the weapon Missile Turret - Longbolt Missile
Then you'd have to go through and rename each one from Missile Turret Copy to whatever you wanted to call it.
Then at each point on each new item you'd need to link them together correctly so that they still work. Where and how they link is different on each item, and will take you at least 20 minutes even if you knew what you were doing well.
I'd start with the weapons, then the effects, then the actors last.
Thanks for the help I decieded to try and do this task again today, with your tips I got the darn thing to work finaly. My next question I have is, If I wanted to increase the life on the mob in my map would I have to do custom unites or is their script that will increase it for me? I don't want to have to make 30 custom units lol.
