Hey, I'm opening this because I'd like to know how people make new WarpIn/Placement models. I assume they import an existing model to Blender and they change the "main" model to the new one they want. Let's take for example the Purifier Collection Mothership. How would I go on creating such models for that one? I imagine I'd have to import the Mothership WarpIn and Placement and swap the main mesh to the Purifier Collection one, but I can't get this working, probably because there are more things to be changed. Anyone who know how to do this would mind creating a tutorial for this?
Hi man, I get what you are after. I've not yet really touched many unit-type warp-in models but I assume their principle is more or less the same as that for sructures with just a few different type of particle effects. Basically what you need to do is indeed swap the mesh for the Purifier Mothership, so that the model will appear as that one, but you'll also need to edit all the materials, particle effects and assign the proper textures. The one thing I have observed with unit warp-ins before is that the squarelike particles can be slightly off in size and location because of how its imported. You'd have to check on wether it funtions properly. Also don't forget to assign the new mesh to the armature (fairly basic but can often be forgotten, I would know)
I think I get the basics but, as I'm not a good user of Blender, I'm seeking something like aan in-depth tutorial or something like that. This is simply because I don't want to bother other users that know how to do this with requests such as "Could you make this placement for me?", or stuff like that. But thanks for bringing some light to the problem. The little I tried to do back in the days was all wrong.
