Started a project back in January to create the 3 main bugs from Starship Troopers, been working on them here and there in my spare time.
Figured I'd make a work in progress thread since it seems like the hip thing to do :P
maybe it will motivate me to finish.

No I haven't seen it yet, is it good? never saw the 2nd and 3rd movies cause I heard they were awful, looked that way too. The animated series was on netflix, that wasn't half bad.

All the animations are in the rough state, going to extending the timing for the Attack and add a particle effect for when the burning fire of death starts shooting out
Invasion is very flashy, made by the japanese studio that made Appleseed Ex machina, the Halo Legends short etc. It's worth checking out, and there's a new bug design that I really like. Sorta like a hopper-sized plasma bug.
Watched it the other night, the ships and effects looked awesome, human characters made me cringe though, their animations made it feel like a video game cinematic.
the mini plasma bug was pretty cool, and the marauder suits were bad ass.
Wow Kinkycactus you're models are incredible great work on them, I hope you finish them with Animations there very well done in my opinion.

You should give the warrior bug a secondary attack animation where it stands on its back legs and does a series of impaling motions, with its front legs and then upper arms.
I can already see the marine giblets flying.

I plan on adding in one more attack variation, probly have it attack with its claws rather than bite. still tweaking the walks as well.

It's alot of animation helpers, they must be moving pretty smooth.

Looks pretty. I wish you also rotate the camera around it to see how light plays on its surface. Do you use environmant map/mask?

I didn't do an Env map on any of the bugs, just Diffuse/Spec/Normal/Alpha. I do have an idea for a future project that would use it though.
