i think it based off what the Phoenix Gravity thing .. they sorta move around when in it.
This game is actually done a bit better than it seems at first glance. With a simple fix to your movement/shooting triggers you're able to turn, accelerate and fire all at the same time. You have it so they stop checking if one doesn't meet the condition rather than having each check their own condition independently.
I almost dismissed this game because of that, but after fixing I really like the movement system.
Now make a geometry wars game type (Keyboard and Mouse)... Btw, it uses a top down kind of perspective, but follows more of that game type, so all you gotta do is modify a game type that already existed...

Awesome needs some tweaks.
Diaginal Movment.
Fire whilst pressing Key.
Good job, needs more spawning asteroids and sound effects.
